Strength:

-long battery life (about 1 year) -easy to use...if beginning, it is not too complex and no bells to distract you. -the in-camera meter has been very reliable

Weakness:

counter can't count...but who needs it...just keep shooting...but for what you buy this for, you can't complain about anything else.

This has been a great camera to begin on. If you are beginning, then the weak aspects of this camera won't be much of an issue. Find it cheap, get a lense or two and shoot away. For what you get and the price you pay, this is a great camera.

Strength:

sturdiness good meter sharp pictures with correct lens easy to use nostalgic feeling

Weakness:

the through the lens LED meter sometimes takes a few seconds to turn on when the weather is cold.

I wanted an all manual camera that was sturdy, inexpensive, took great pictures, was easy to learn and was fun to use. After reading through many reviews, the X-370 stood out the most. I had used this camera when I was in 7th grade and we were learning about photography. That right there should tell you how easy this camera is to use. I also was convinced about the sturdiness of the camera from all the adventures that people described with their own camera, and it only cost me $250 with the 50mm used lens! Oh one molre thing, it takes really good, well exposed, sharp pictures too.

Strength:

Easy to learn and use simple operations tough body display of both the shutter speeds, the User set value and the Camera decided values are very helpful in avoiding many mistakes realiable low cost

Weakness:

No depth of field preview No exposure compensation I''m very much dissappointed about the range of lenses available in the market. I have got most of the lenses in the Used market than the new ones. This discourages me to expand my lenses fearing the future of these cameras as not many make lenses for them.

My X370 has been not just a camera, it has been a very good tutor too. Its one of the best manual SLR cameras available in the market for a beginner and with the price tag it holds on it. I have used this camera on most of the occasions and its reliability is very high because of its simplicity. But, if you want to get very serious with photography with variety of subjects in mind, you would look out for an alternative camera. If I get good set of lenses for this camera, I would love to expand the equiments for them and would surely have them for life time. I also have X700 to share the lenses with x370. I have used some AF cameras, but I dont enjoy them as much as I do with the manual camera and the only situation I am dissappointed it when I have to do quick focussing... but thats nothing to do with this camera and it comes with practise.

Strength:

the manual film advance works with great ease and the metering seems to be quite accurate. There can be no mistake as to the shutter speed, since only the selected speed is viewable from the window. The body will take all of the standard MD lenses and flash strobes. This makes it a desirable asset for someone who is looking to build an inexpensive system from the internet auction services.

Weakness:

There are none in comparison to models and makes of similar features and cost.

My father passed away and mom gave me his two X-370''s. The X-370 seems to be just as good or better than a comparable Nikon FG/FM. I would reccommend it to a photo student or someone who likes the feel of a nice all around manual/auto camera.

Strength:

Good optics Good meter Easy to use Durable Sharp & contrasty pictures

Weakness:

No DOF preview

Excellent Camera! I appreciate the manual control in a world of automatics. Produces sharp contrasty images, and is very rugged for its size and weight. People say this is a great beginner camera --- which it is. But it''s a great camera period! I''ve used this camera for over 14 years, and I simply don''t see the need to get another in this format. My next camera will be a medium format.

Strength:

Very versatile and fun to use. I''ve tried switching to AF cameras, but they don''t have the same feel. This one lets you be a little creative (I''m still learning) and the results are very satisfactory. The meter works wonders to help you set aperture and shutter speed (in case you want to bracket), and also helps when you want to decide what DOF you need. Probably the inherent limitations of a camera of its kind are driving me to buying a Nikon AF (a glorified P & S)... for color shots. This Minolta does very well with color (provided you use a polarizer) and B&W (avoid chromogenic film). I will keep it until it dies on me, and only if the repair exceeds the amount I paid for it new.

Weakness:

No DOF preview w/the 35-70 mm lens that came with the camera. You have to guess. Many reviewers have said the shutter is noisy... and it is, but that adds to a kind of retro touch the camera has. Other than that, I can''t find anything to complain about, and it''s very unlikely that I do.

Who said it was discontinued? These cameras are still going strong. I bought mine at the end of a trip, and it turned out to be the best thing I''ve owned, so far, excepting for a Canon AE I used to shoot with a long time ago (in the 70s and 80s). This camera is a treat! After my Vivitar P & S, the pictures I''ve gotten with these one have made me feel really satisfied, in spite of the steep price I paid for it (I''ve seen them go for less than $ 300 the highest). Of course, for this review I''ll assume I paid the $ 260 (give or take a few) it ordinarily costs, which makes it a great value.

Customer Service

I once needed to buy a case, and the sales person was very helpful. I hope not to need it for any other reason.

Strength:

Extremely reliable; I've put mine through so much abuse it's unbelievable. And it still works fine. Easy to use, too. I agree with Mr. Majdi Abbas, about the incredible battery life.

Weakness:

I really can't think of any. It lacks some features, but it's a wonderful instrument.

This is a great backup camera, or a great camera for a beginner. I've taken some pretty good pictures with my x370, I'd like to think. And like I eluded to before, I've shot I don't know how many hundreds and hundreds or rolls; all without incident. Well, actually, on one of mine the shutter-release capacitor went out, but it's 20 years old and only cost $45 bucks to fix! Needless to say, I highly recommend the x370, and really, the entire x series. Great cameras for anybody who shoots in 35mm format.

Strength:

I have always liked this camera. Completely manual, aside from metering and exposure and very durable; mine has been dropped from 15' onto cement with only a couple of dents to show for it,
and generally abused for years.

I still use this camera practically daily.

Battery life is incredible.

Weakness:

Depth of field preview would be nice; some of the later models, like the 570, have this feature.

As of the past 2-3 years, fewer manufacturers are producing Minolta MD mount lenses. This is a shame.

Camera's a little heavy if you're not used to older SLRs

This is a good general use manual SLR, and a great beginner SLR. After 10 years and a lot of abuse, I still carry mine.

Strength:

Reliable camera
Sturdy build
Easy to use
Can be used manually

Weakness:

Needs an adaper for the hot shoe if you want to use your flash off to the side of your camera.

It's the only camera I have used over the past 14 years, I've taken it on many vacations, used it to take Wedding photo's, Landscapes and Portrait's. It is a good camera to begin with if you are just learning about photography, it can be used manually and has changeable lens which allows for greater flexability and artistic capability.

Customer Service

I've never used customer service. I've taken hundreds of rolls of film with this camera and have never had any problems.

Great starting camera, metering has been right on, takes abuse, can be found cheap.

Weakness:

old & heavy

This was my first SLR, & was a great teacher. I would recommend to anyone starting out who wants to learn manual first. I have taken pictures of my daughter taken with this to work & had people amazed by the quality of the pictures. They wanted to know what camera took "those great shots" & I'm not talking 10 years ago, but last month!
