Strength:
A Masterpiece! Easy to use and reach controls. This well built camera fits nicely in your hands.
Weakness:
None (I am a bit afraid to clunk this expensive camera around like I did cheaper cameras) This is an incredible camera. For many years I have only used manual cameras and I never realized what fun you can have with a fully automated camera with so many operations. I enjoy switching to Aperature or Shutter priority mode as I see fit. Take good care of this camera and it will be the last one you will ever need. Strength:
Solid, hard metal body, egonomicaly designed, fast AF, good exposure metering, easy to laarn and use, good step-down compatibility
Weakness:
Connection between body and vertical grip is too flexible. Why the Nikon don't create Data back with imprinting exposure data between frames, like for F5 and F80 ?? Customer Service Not required (more than 1 year of everyday use) Similar Products Used: F90x, F70, EOS 5, Z1-p |

Strength:
I have writte a review on this camera, but since I have added the vertical grip. What an improvement. I would recommend this to any F100 owner.
Weakness:
Adds considerble weight to the camera, if you can call this a weakness. The verticle grip uses two more batteries than the battery holder it replaces. This gives you a little more time between battery changes and more speed (FPS. The comfort and ease of makeing vertical shots is well worth the extra weight. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Very Rugged and Reliable, fast autofocus, although i pretty much always use manual focus (doesnt drain batteries, unlike my old EOS),
Weakness:
only 96% viewfinder coverage, side focus points dont work accuratly with certain lenses (28 1.8), no Mirror Lock Up, no built in viewfinder shutter, matrix meter not as accurate as most claim. The strengths far outwiegh the weaknesses of this incredible camera. In additions to working part time as a press photographer, i work at a store (gotta pay the bills), and the F-100 is the camera that every employee wants. Have seen far fewer problems with the F-100 then the EOS 3. The biggest problem is the matrix meter not working properly in easy metering situations, although it does great in tough scenes(kinda odd). Just better to use spot metering anyways. Custom function allowing the shutter release to act as a AE lock makes this much easier, and a lot quicker to use than my old EOS A2 (yes, i sold all my Canon AF gear ((2 bodies and about 6 lenses + flashes)) to switch over.) i love being able to control exposure in 1/3 stops too. Lighter weight then the F-5 is definitly welcome, i dont miss the 3 fps that i lose between them (timing makes up for that), and its much less intimidating for photographers dealing with people. Viewfinder is extremely bright as well, although, the most common problem i have seen is F-100's sold with screen falling out of the camera (being knocked around in shipping). Build quality definitly is definitly higher than the EOS 3, and although the camera might not be as good as the Maxxum 9 (but hey, i will take nikon glass any day) it is probably one of the best cameras out there. I would recomend anyone buying this camera, read the book and use the custom functions, they have a couple that are extremely usefull. Customer Service Hopefully i wont have to deal with them for a little bit. Similar Products Used: F-5, F-4, FM, D-1, EOS A2, 630, EOS1, EOS 3 |

Strength:
AF speed and accuracy, TTL Flash especially fill flash work, magnesium alloy body, very solid and durable construction
Weakness:
none First of all, may I suggest those people who rated this camera one star to save enough money before even coming near this high precision instument. I think not being able to afford it is all your problem. Nikon built this great camera for me. I bought it as a back up body for my F5 and I end up using the F100 more than the F5. The key benefit is the lighter weight. It also has an improved focusing points which I think it's easier to see. I know it doesn't have MLU, so what? I wonder whether the people who complain about the lack of this feature actually use it. As for the difference btw the color metering of the F5 and the F100's new 10 segment, I find there's no significant difference. Customer Service nothing has ever been broken yet. Strength:
Ease of use.
Weakness:
Tiny focus select switch. I'm a U.S. Navy Photographer...and use this camera daily (work or non-work related). This is a well built, rugged camera that can survive the elements. If you are between the F5 and the F100...go for the F100 (unless you are set on RGB Metering). Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Spend the extra bucks. Customer Service Haven't had to use it. Similar Products Used: Canon EOS 1N, Canon A2E, Nikon F5, Nikon N90, Nikon 8008s |

Weakness:
no mirror lock (stupid mistake for nikon) Got my first camera and returned it two days later due to shutter being stuck on timer!! Got a new one the same day and it was perfect. So far 12 rolls of film later and lots, and lots of dry shooting later, no problems and i'm on my second set of batteries...not too bad. I like it!! Similar Products Used: F5 |
