Strength:
I upgraded from a N90S and the quality of my pictures has significantly improved. It works extremely well with SB28 flash. Try it once and you will never buy another camera again.
Weakness:
None I have owned 4 cameras in the last 14 years and this is the first camera I have truly fallen in love with. I am never buying another camera again. What a joy to use. Customer Service Never used Similar Products Used: N90S, Minolta Maxxum 700si |

Strength:
The grip is so good I can shoot one-handed (after zooming) with my Metz 60-CT4 grip flash mounted, while using my left arm to stop people from wandering into the frame!
Weakness:
Eats batteries over twice as fast as the N90s, as I get only 10-12 rolls per set of regular alkalines. The specs say otherwise-I need to check into this. If I could get the flash problem straightened, it'd be a solid 5. Missed one wedding couple shot when they were out before the wedding-the only shot of them that night! Customer Service Arrogant on the phone regarding TTL flash problem-not using 'Nikon' brand flash. Similar Products Used: N90s FM2 FE2 N60 |

Strength:
Very easy to use for even a beginner like me. The build quality, size (found the F5 huge), features and design is what attracted me to this Nikon model.
Weakness:
Expensive: in Australia the F100 price is roughly 1/6 of the average annual gross income; perhaps a bit over the top, but then again are not the best things in the world. Being new to photography simply wanted a camera which can take me to the highest skill levels in photography which I think the F100 will. The F100 is a lot more fun to use than the F70 and gives the feel that it will last forever. Moreover, the photographs taken on my recent trip to UK, Spain & Argentina were outstanding. I think the SB-28 and the Tamron Super II 28/200mm combination added to my enjoyment and the quality of the photographs. Now I need to learn developing to add to the fun. Customer Service Nil Similar Products Used: Brought my first camera last year being a F70 and found it took great photographs, but somtimes confusing to use. Up-graded to the F100 for the added creative features and ease of use. |

solid feel
Weakness:
none that I have noticed. I love my F-100. I dropped it (to my disbelief) when I was in London this past June. My skylight filter shattered but left my 24-120mm Nikkor untouched. The camera body still performs fine. I've had it a year and I've gone thru a lot of film. Nikon products are wonderful , except for their flashes. 2 out of my 3 Nikon Flashes had performed defectively after the warranty expired (how convienent). Still, my heart belongs to Nikon. Customer Service haven't had to use them for sending parts away but they have been very nice and responsive on the phone with questions. Similar Products Used: Nikon F-3 |

My experience comes from using, plying with and selling cameras for over 7 years at a Melbourne retail outlet.
Weakness:
Autofocus is a little slower with non-AF-S lenses. If you have always had a thing with Nikon's but have been to scared to change because Canon have such great lenses, then I suggest you give it a go. Nikon are comming back in a big way. Expect new lenses very shortly including white ones! Basically, Nikon make the best bodies, Canon make the best lenses (deign only-not performance), and performance is very similar. They are so close as you can imagine. I respect both equally. What can I say, if the lens gives the same quality performance ((as Canon)just a little slower/noisier-without AF-S) but the body feels more professional, then Nikon is the way! custom functions are excellent, camera size and shape offer versatility, nikon lens availability a definate plus. All controls in covienient locations.
Weakness:
A bit hard to find mb15 grip and other accessories such as the shutter release cords. Nikon outdid themselves on the f100,why buy the f5 the f100 is every bit of camera the f5 is.The f100 reconfirms my respect for nikon. Customer Service customer service was excellent at the nashua camera store. Similar Products Used: f4s nikon/ n90s nikon/ and the/ n8008s nikon and variouse canon cameras. |

Good Build. Accurate AF which does fine adjustments constantly.
Weakness:
Non TTL High-speed sync FP flash. A well made camera which could be made better still. Not the best value but worth the money. Excellent outdoor camera but a pain to use for outdoor portraiture due to lack of TTL FP flash. Customer Service Battery drain problems, good service but only centralised in Sydney, Australia. I live 1000kms away. Similar Products Used: EOS 3 with Canon 550EX, Eos 50 |

Strength:
Sturdy construction
Weakness:
Flash output compensation works only in bracketing Gadget freaks should look elsewhere for "gizmo toy cameras" to play with. The F100 is a quality camera with well designed and executed features for the true photographers. Although I don't use Matrix metering normally, but when I do, it gives me consistently good results. This is no doubt one of the best cameras in the market. Highly recommended. Customer Service not required Similar Products Used: Nikon F3HP, F4 |

Fast autofocus
Weakness:
No mirror lockup This is an excellent backup to the F5. Same rugged feel, fast autofocus and decent metering. The metering for the F100 is not as good as the F5's RGB meter, but then again the F5 is a $1K more. Most of the work I do is manual with spotmeter. However, there are times when I need fast metering and know that I can rely on either camera's metering. The F100 is nice on long hikes since it's 1/3 lighter than the F5. The F5 is still my primary body, but the F100 is seeing more use depending on what type of work I'm doing. Overall, this is an excellent camera for a pro or serious amateur. I would've give a 5 for value, but I thought Nikon should have had 100% view and mirror lock up for the price. Would also be nice if they had an option for leaving a film leader for those time when you can't carry around two bodies but still want to be able to change film mid roll.
