Strength:

It has a lot of more features than my n50. Love the depth of field button.

Weakness:

none so far. Touch wood.

i thhink it is a very good camera for action and beginning professional. I just shoot pictures as a hobby so i wouldnt know if this would be a good camera for an extreme profeesional. I thought it was pricy when i bought it but i dont have any regrets now. Love the camera as if it was my baby.

Strength:

This camera is incredible... once I got through the owner's manual, I was immediately comfortable with the controls and settings. The AF is great... very accurate and quick! I have small hands, but I can easily handle F100! Lightweight but very heavy-duty. I love it!

Weakness:

None.

The F100 is a phenomenal camera, and through mail-order, not a bad value. Got mine with Nikon USA warranty for $1150--way below MSRP. I've used it with my Nikkor AF 28-105 3.5-4.5 IF zoom lens and the SB-28 for portraits, candids, snapshots, fine art, etc. etc. etc. I love the autofocus--incredibly accurate in nearly every situation. I plan on using this camera for years to come. Anyone who is an advanced amateur and above could appreciate the quality and usefulness of F100. It is SO versatile and a joy to use... I wouldn't trade it for anything!

N90S--but why bother when you can get an F100?

Strength:

Much lighter then My f4s and the f5. Cost is comparable to a built up N90s.

Weakness:

I seem to flip the shutter lock button on the grip quite a bit and get a few unexpected shots every now and again. I had the same problem with the focus area selector until I learned how to hold it.

This camera does every thing any photographer needs to do and is light enought to take anywhere.

The only time I wish for the F5 is at the race track tring to shoot the cup cars. The extra 3 frames a second would come in handy. But maybe as I get more practice I will make more shots.

It seems another solid Nikon product!

Strength:

It's a great camera! Certainly it's smarter and faster thinking than I am. It's a fair enough value if you understand that Nikon is shameless when it comes to taking my money. I looked at buying an F5 but it was just too big for my hands. The F100 fits very nicely into my hands.

Weakness:

None so far.

The faster autofocus speed is nothing less than dramatic. Dynamic autofocus seems to know exactly what you want to shoot, I want to know how they do that! I would like to see the shutter release moved to the top of the camera, perpendicular to the lense, like on most older mechanical cameras and some other brands. The battery life indicator does not increment smoothly. When the indicator shows 1/2 life I suggest changing the batteries IMMEDIATELY.

A great camera, exceptionally consistant in it's operation.

Customer Service

Although the 1-800... cust. service line is always busy, I have always been satisfied with the results once I get through.

Strength:

The F100 (as designated on the box) is a rapid focus, well built camera body. The instruction manual is readable in most instances. The autofocus is somewhat better than the N90s ... Nikon might do better to incorporate the F100 focusing system into a body as solid as the F4s.

Weakness:

A switch would be good to have to
completely shut the camera off.
Currently, one must remove a battery
to turn the camera off. (Nikon USA responded that the battery drain is
minimal with just a portion of the LCD on.)

The camera produces photographs that sell. It is a quality Nikon product.

Customer Service

No contact other than the battery situation noted in 'Any Problems.'

Strength:

Rock solid body and construction - you don't have to worry about damaging the body.
Very fast AF - dead on most of the time. 5 different focus areas - tremendously helpful for off center subjects.

Weakness:

None that I noticed.

Just a step below the F5. It lacks the 1005 color matrix metering of the flagship camera but has most of the other great features. Highly recommend it.

Strength:

Ergonomically designed. It fits my hand perfectly, and the weight is balanced and very light for the strength in it's body that you can feel and for having such a great built-in motor drive.

The controls are very easy to reach and are intuitively placed.

Weakness:

Can't afford all the neat stuff that works so great with it...ie. the SB28, and the D-type lenses.

This is an awesome accomplishment! Even die hard users of other brands are looking at this one--this I noticed while shopping the local camera stores.

Strength:

This is a fabulous machine. Feels like the BMW of cameras. The operation is natural and easy. Some complain about the weight, but I find that it adds stability. I have used this camera with the SB-28 and they are a fantastic combo for all kinds of challenging lighting situations (all of Nikon's bragging about their 3D matrix metering is justified). No more compensating for absent backlighting. AA batteries are great.

Weakness:

Like most fine things...expensive.
Some family pictures are cruelly sharp. Sometimes I've had to use a diffusing filter to make my pictures kinder and more attractive.

If you can afford the F100, the SB-28 and the 35-70 2.8, go for it!!

Super camera. Right size and weight. Superb quality.
I wish the next generation includes a built-in viewfinder blind and mirror lock-up.

Strength:

- Very well built, well balanced camera
- By no means light, but weight is a major improvement over the F5
- Good, fast autofocus; pretty good AF controls
- on/off control does not have the F5's irritating lock
- good control layout
- quiet shutter
-good flash synch speed
- uses AA batteries

Weakness:

My complaints aren't major, and I wouldn't want to turn it into the F5. Still:
- I would have liked a viewfinder blind
- I would have liked mirror-lock-up
- I really would have liked 100% viewfinder (WYSIWYG)
(#1-3: I do a fair amount of macro work)
- I admit it, I miss the option of manual rewind (to save battery power if nothing else, but it is also so nice and quiet)
- I would have liked built-in bracketing

Really fine photographic tool. I enjoy using it. It is the camera I routinely take with me, unless I desperately need to cut weight. As I said, I would have liked MLU (or prefire), a viewfinder blind, a 100% viewfinder, a manual rewind option, and bracketing, but I simply use a different camera for macro; this is without doubt a very capable, very professional, very impressive camera.

Customer Service

Nikon USA can be difficult to get on the phone sometimes, and they're occassionally not as pleasant/patient as they might be, but mostly they're very good. The one repair I needed done under warranty went very well; I was pleased
