Strength:

This camera is simple to use in the automatic mode, has a very good exposure system.I use it extensively for casual shooting with a 28-200 zoom.

Weakness:

Manual use of the camera is somewhat non-intuitive. Reasonable price of the camera contrasts with high cost of Nikon lenses.

A good camera for someone who wants point and shoot simplicity in a Nikon SLR at reasonable price. Because it is intended to be used in auto mode it is not really convenient to use for extensive manual control, although that is available.

Strength:

Easy to use
good build quality

Weakness:

Lacks a few features such as depth of field

I bought this camera for my girlfriend as a birthday gift. She wanted to take up photography and I thought that this would be an excellent camera to start her off with. She was able to take pictures right away using the auto-mode with no difficulty. However, the lack of a couple of features such as depth of field preview, etc made me decide to return the camera and get a N 80 instead. I think that it would be difficult to expand the N 60 beyond fairly basic modes of operation. Don't mistake this review as a negative one, however. This is an excellent value for an SLR and allows the user the option of using a wide variety of Nikon lenses with it and it does provide excellent pictures. The autofocus is quite fast and works well in low light. The build quality is definitely better than Canon SLRs with the lens mount areas being made of metal as opposed to plastic.

Weakness:

None for the price

This is a great camera for a beginner or a serious amateur. For more features, go spend more money. It takes great pictures & gives me the creative control if I want it.

Strength:

Very intuitive and functional controls. Well engineered ergonomically. Great pictures with proper lense.

Weakness:

Would like to see Depth of Field in viewfinder and have have manual cable release. Otherwise a great camera value.

A great camera value from Nikon. After seeing the N80 would have preferred it because of the DOF and manual shutter release, but for $150-200 less, this was a good buy.

This camera is an economical way to get into SLR Photography. Sure the body lacks some features but hey, there are other cameras that don't. The features it does have though are important ones for creative photography. Aperture and Shutter Priority are the modes that I use most. The Vari-programs ( Action, Sport, Close up, Portrait and Night scene ) are kind of disapointing to me, I usually don't like what the camera sets so I don't use them really at all. The 6 segment light meter is very good for most situations but I like to use the center weighted light meter too. To use it you have to put the camera in manual mode. When the camera is set to manual both Shutter and Aperture are under your control and it is very easy to set them. You don't have to move your hand from the grip to the lens and back. All you do is hold down a button and turn the wheel to change aperture and you just turn the wheel to change the shutter speed. Anyway, this camera is worth the money I spent on it. However, if you want DOF preview and a cable release get a camera that has those features otherwise you won't be happy with the N60.

Strength:

Great camera to start out with. Taken some nice family shots, and nature ones. Nice price in my range.

Weakness:

Have outgrown very quickly. No conection for flash. Any other speedlights used on has to be set manually. Not very good on depth perception, or fast actions photos.

Nice start out camera. A good one for me to learn on without schooling.

Strength:

Relatively light and nimble, simple to operate. Enough manual overides for "creative control"-flexible program feature and exposure compensation. Modes are handy for beginners. It was inexpensive enough that I'm not afraid to use it among crowds of strangers.

Weakness:

Its mirror flap speed is a little slow and continuous AF "sport" mode cannot be used with exposure compensation.

This is our casual, family camera: light and easy to use with handy built in flash. It is so user-friendly that my wife now leaves her point-and-shoot in the closet and takes the N60 everywhere. I have to lower my expectations a bit when I use it instead of my F100, but that's no big deal. It does its appointed job perfectly, yet some review posters didn't seem keenly aware of the N60's mission, griping about features it doesn't have. If you wanted the capabilities of an N80 or F100, why didn't you buy one?

Customer Service

Great for repair on another camera.

Strength:

The F60 is an excellent beginner camera, with many exposure modes to familiarize an amateur on how to set the shutter/aperture for certain situations.

Weakness:

The F60 can only last you about 8 to 12 months before you're going to need to buy a new one. Many accesories such as the crucial shutter release cables cannot be pluged into the F60.

A good starter camera for any kind of amateur photographer. However be sure to have some dough ready to buy a more advanced camera later on.
