Strength:

Excellent results
Good metering
Reasonable Autofocus
Great flash metering
Can use maunual focus lenses.
Quiet operation

Weakness:

Interface takes some getting used to.

I just sold my 3rd N70......and I'm very, very depressed. It gave me much better results than the F80 that I bought to replace it with. It was be my travel camera. I'm going to look for my 4th body (I hope I can find a QD version)I keep selling them and keep wanting another.....great camera, very under-rated.

Strength:

Sturdy and reliable.
Exellent metering.
Autofocus.
A complete set of operating modes.
Built-in flash.

Weakness:

Controls.
You can't check the deeo of the field.

It's strong and as sturdy as a Land Rover: my F70 (N70 in Usa)dropped for a couple of meters while I was climbing on a rock and the body just get a few scratches. The same accident happened to my FM2 and it had a minor damage. I think than any other camera would not survive this experience.
Performances are very good. When this model appeared it was state of the art technology, now it's still up-to-date.
Exellent value for money.
What I really don't like of this camera are the controls. They are too tricky to operate. Too many functions to choose playing with a few switches and a display. A kind of interface that you can appreciate if you have a degree in electronic engineering, but not if you are trying to take pictures. That's the only reason I won't give a five stars rating. The new F80 must be much better (but I don't know if it's as strong as the N70).

Customer Service

Not needed for this camera, but Nikon service in Italy is good.

Strength:

exposure precision.
motordrives 3,7fps
unlike the f80,accepts AI lenses without leaving you without exposure control!!!!!

Weakness:

too much plastic.good plastic but metal is another thing.
the display is tricky, but you have anyway 3 toal settings you can memory.
you learn it,sure but it slows your actions..

i said in strenght an weakness.anyway good matrix exposure system, motordrive at3,7 fps,so good for some action, like a f90 only that is less strong.Ideal if you take a little care cause, for example, the lockings of the little fill flash and of the back are in plastic.Mine didn't broke anyway.miss double exposure and i love'em.4 stars.used and found in good conditions is to buy.

Customer Service

Strength:

Quick Film advance up to 3.7 fps.
Very quiet.

Weakness:

No Depth of Field Preview
No Multiple Exposure
No Backlight for the display panel.
No low light AF Assist. Very slow AF in low light situation. Have to use an external flash for that.

I had this camera for several years and overall the N70 is a very good camera. If it wasn't for the following weaknesses, I would have given it 5 stars. I agree that it User Interface takes a bit to get used to. But once your used to it, it not too bad. And if you use the built in QR settings, you can quickly change from one setting to another. Most of the times the exposure comes out fine in matrix mode. However, there are times when your subject will come out underexposed with a brighter background. Just need to make sure that you use the fill-flash for those type of situations.

Strength:

LIGHT WEIGHT, FAST AF, ACCURATE TTL METER. A RELIABLE, GOOD PRICE CAMERA FOR THE MONEY.

Weakness:

CHEAP PLASTIC FEEL. WEEK BUILD-IN FLASH AND CONFUSING FAN-SHAPE LCD DISPLAY AT FIRST LOOK.

I'M A NIKON SHOOTER AND HAVE BEEN USING NIKON PRODUCT FOR SOMETIME NOW. I MUST SAY THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CAMERAS I'VE EVER USED. THE WEIGHT AND SIZE ARE RIGHT ON, VIEW FINDER IS SO BRIGHT THAT EVEN MY 75 YEARS OLD FATHER LOVE TO USE IT SOMETIME. THE BUILD-IN FLASH IS A LITTLE WEAK BUT PROVIDES 3D MATRIX AND FILL FLASH IS THE BEST IN ITS CLASS FOR PORTRAIT.
IF YOU DON'T MIND THE COLOR LCD DISPLAY AND TAKE SOMETIME STUDING TO MANUAL BEFORE USING ALL THE CONTROL FUNCTIONS THEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND YOU CAN GO WRONG USING THIS CAMERA FOR EITHER BACKUP OR PRIMARY.

Fast autofocus, 3-D Matrix metering, Nikon quality, built-in flash.

Weakness:

Outstanding camera for a beginner or intermediate photographer. Allows full automation, or total manual control. Outstanding quality at an affordable price. Easy enough to learn on, but still has the features a more advanced photographer would want.

Strength:

The N-70 has a very fast autofocus and good motor drive. It has a nice built-in flash and its vari-program modes work well.

Weakness:

No depth of field preview

A very good beginning/interdediate auto/SLR. It also makes a good second body when one advances to the F-100.

Model Reviewed: N70 Camera QD Body

Strength:

AE bracket feature. Easy to use exposure compensation for flash. Built in pop up flash.

Weakness:

Viewfinder is not 100% exposed on film. Poor placement of the autoexp lock button, no DOF preview.

I really love this camera, I purchased it before the N90s and it is a perfect backup for alternate ASA or B&W. I wish I'd have never got the date back, however. No use, have only used it a couple of times when it was new and not since. If the date and time could be imprinted on the back of the images, it would be useful.

Model Reviewed: N70 Camera QD Body

Strength:

GREAT feel, good balance, great feature set (no DOF preview) including autobracketing. Great number of features for the price!!!

Weakness:

No backlighting for LCD panel makes it impossible to be used in the dark. No AF Assist light. No DOF preview. I would like IR receiver for shutter release at least.

Helluvalot better than the bloody F60 dumb body. I've been looking for a backup for my F5 (just to hold faster film and a different lens) and the F70 finally does it. It has very good features, great AE metering, everything I want except for DOF preview. But the design could be improved and I'm praying for a new F80 camera which improves on this great camera.
