Strength:

First Auto focus camera I bought. I had heard about slow focus etc. so I was afraid to get one. It focuses faster than I can. Interface is so-so, but not too hard. My wife uses the camera as well as my 10 year old, all with great results.

Weakness:

Wish they had a light for the LCD screen, other than that none.

Great camera. Has most of the features I need so far. No DOF preview, which I may need to use a graduated ND filter, but I am sure I can Bracket and get around that need. I wouldnt mind having a Multiple Exposure mode, buut I think there is a work around. (Havent tried it yet.) Overall a great camera. Hope to get my wife one this Christmas.

Strength:

It is solid and reliable. Excellent quality.
Professional level features with reasonable price. Built-in flash.

Weakness:

Eats batteries. Can be easy to forget how to quickly change settings. No depth of field preview.

An excellent beginner/amateur camera. The built-in flash is actually useful and the quality pictures I have made ith the Nikon 24-120 lense are outstanding. Generally easy to use and very reliable. I have not had any problems except for it eating batteries.

Strength:

good value for the price. I shoot mainly Architecture, and architecture models in a controlled (slower) environment. Find that this camera's interface is very easy to use considering I usually have to take my eyes away from the veiwfinder between shots anyway.

Weakness:

A couple- I really wanted a grided focusing screen but found that nikon only makes them for n90 and above af cameras. I ended up buying the n90 grided focusing screen $34 bucks, cut the little tab off the corner with an exacto saw, and replaced the stock one that came with the n70. The n90 focusing screen is about 1mm narrower, but after centering it and clipping it into position it works perfect. Another thing- I don't typically do double exposures, but sometimes would like to.
Trick- If I hold the back panel latch down (without opening and exposing the film) and take my first shot the film will not advance. Than take my second shot normally for a double exposure- try it first with a cheap roll of film for practice. It works well for me in those rare instances when I want double exposure. The cool thing about the n70 is that evan though it doesn't have dop, and double exposure that other af cameras have there are work arounds,

Excellent, tough little camera for taking slower set up shots like architecture, and models. The Nikon lens system is fantastic. Probably would recommend a Canon for faster shooting like sports and photo journalism, they are lighter weight and have slightly faster af. Nikon left the least important things out in this camera- dop and double exp. (that have work arounds) while providing some of the many more exposure settings that you can only find on a high priced proffessional af camera.

The date back feature is very handy. The autofocus is fast and accurate.

Weakness:

No problems yet...

This is an excellent camera. Metering is excellent. My only complaint is the built flash is a little weak. You might consider buying a more powerful flash with the camera.

Strength:

Easy to learn, lots of room for beginners' skill growth before wanting to upgrade. Durable. LOVE the matrix meter- very accurate.

Weakness:

I can't override the film advancement for double exposures. No DOF preview- something that was ok when I bought it, and don't miss very much now- still, it would be nice.

I love this camera! It has a lot of options and features- replaced my point&shoot camera completely since it can go fully automatic and had the built in flash for snapshot situations. The controls may seem daunting at first, but take a cheap roll of film, the manual, and an afternoon and you'll figure it out easily enough. Kind of cumbersome, but it's a trade-off for the durability. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who's beginning to take an serious interest in photography and wants a good camera to learn on.

Customer Service

haven't needed it yet- which is great since I've been dragging it around constantly for two years.

Strength:

The autofocus works great. After having a manual camera I won't go back. Almost every picture (95 out of 100) is in focus.

Weakness:

The biggest problem is figuring out how to use the camera. If I don't use it for a while, I have a tendency to forget what does what.

If you don't need the faster shutter speed and computerized link of the N-90 it's a great camera.

The N70 is a great all around camera and easy to use once you read the manual and understand the great range of functions.

Weakness:

This is a great camera with many functions and very easy to use once you read the book and practice a few rolls of film. I really like the way it fits in your hand making it easier to hold and it is not a heavy 35mm. I would recommend this to a beginner or anyone interested in furthering there photography skills.

Solid Camera with good value for the dollars.

Weakness:

Lack of DOF

I love my N70 inspite of its so-called 'bad interface'. It doesn't take much to learn it. Great price when you compare it with the N90s. Probably the best camera for beginner/Intermediate photographer.

Nope.. no problem so far

Why should I hate N70? this is the best camera to fill the gap between consumer product and F100. I don't think about the N90, which I also have. N90 is too expensive. If you want N90, please reconsider N70. It has slower FPS but N90 is not so fast.
