Strength:

Its automation does almost always does what I would have done anyhow, I rarely have to over-ride it. I will say that its autofocus isn't QUITE as fast as some others, but I find the way it works, including the control system, to be quite effective.

Weakness:

One of my two bodies, in combination with an SB26 flash, has the flash fire randomly when the SB26 batteries are low. The other body does not do this.

While it may not be quite as fast as some other cameras in autofocus, it does what I want, either using passive lighting or fill-flash, without my having to fiddle or interfere except in VERY special situations, beyond perhaps adjusting the speed/Fstop tradeoff via the wheel spinning that requires no menu accesses. The fill-flash works very well both with the SB26 and the 622 SP Zoom flash with the appropriate module, btw.

I'd say that I do both landscapes and people, with essays into fine art, as far as the 'type" but I prefer landscapes, except when I'm home.

Strength:

For the money, it was a great deal. It handles well and is durable. I shoot sports so it has been dropped. Once I tried it, I knew I was going to be a Nikon man.

Weakness:

It's a little slow for the work I do. I wish it had a vertical grip and a less complex method of adjusting the settings.

It's been a solid camera for me. I'm ready to upgrade to N90s for sports. My daughter wants to take it so that means it will remain in the family. I wish they would come out with a new, improved version.

Strength:

it performs very well, almost as good as the N90s, good AF, great metering system, Great TTL sytem, absolutely great film advance system (quiet).

Weakness:

I certainly dont like the operation LCD and dials, if you use other Nikon cameras like N90s or F100 or 8008 or 6006 or F5 this one will defintely slow you down, not even using the quick recall funtions, this camera is SLOW to operate. Dont get me wrong I like it, but if you want to suddenly activate the spot meter, you have to (1)take your eyes off the viefinder so you (2)press the function button, (3)search for the function on the lcd and after (4)press the set button and (5)the dial so you can change the metering area, this consumes time and makes me loose a lot of shots, not to metion that you have to do this all over again if you want to use the expousure compensator in combination with the spot. In almost any other Nikon camera you press a button and turn the dial, a 2 step operation.
Also I wish nikon made a vertical grip for it to hold it better with big lenses like the 80-200 f2.8.

this is a great camera if you shoot things like landscapes or things that dont require you to operate the camera fast, like photojournalism or fashion, it performs very well.
Great camera for begginers or amateurs.

Indoors with flash are sharp and unbelievably captured- no pocket camera can do this- especially with a 24mm or wider lense. So sharp and clean indoors!
Fast focus, quiet shutter. I trust it.

Weakness:

no DOF

Knobs are better than buttons, but this camera lets me snap away once I figured it out. Has storage buttons to totally setup a different way- but not much use if your lense doesn't perform well at wide aperatures for speed and sharpness.
A great camera for a way to get into using nikon lenses. Other brands have more functions, gimmicks, but I trust my nikon to take my images. Not super expensive, so I feel free to use it anywhere- use saran wrap around critical junctions when conditions require it. This camera even with compact lenses (cheapest lenses, i.e. 35-80) is so much more versatile a tool than any P&S. 4 stars because I can just feeeeeeeeel that nikon has a new N70-type in the works ready to blow the amateur class cameras to oblivion! If you can't take good picts with this camera, it's not the camera or lenses fault.

just came back from a week of hiking- performed admirably. quiet snapper. matrix metering is good, but trust the old center weighted with the sky throwing extremes at you. coupled with a good lense, this is a good tool-almost as any- to get enjoyable shots- just be sure to bring it with you instead of the P&S
4 because even the new Rebel will have DOF

Strength:

Simple, but high tech
built in flash does come in handy
pretty quiet
feels susbstantial
is durable- stuffed it into a shoulder bag and went hiking around- body/buttons resist sand/dirt well and grip is still grippy with condensation moisture

Weakness:

on switch is easy to leave on-
no DOF for the critical
wide AF sensor hunts a little, use the spot focus for critical use

Is a good body for all around use- I bring it to all the events (save the P&S for the unexpected). Don't be afraid to use stuff or even break stuff (you can't take good stuff if you don't use it)- find a way to stash it, then use it.

Customer Service

none- be sure to use the equipment to the max-
if you aren't using it, you're wasting it
Life isn't long enough that you need to pamper anything to make it last forever.

Seems good. Price is right now. I don't mind the user interface, very logical, but would haev liked a light for the LCD so i could change settigs in the dark. Very capable camera.

excellent

Weakness:

Miss DOF preview which I used quite often

Initially decided to buy F90s but most of the things I want (excluding DOF preview) are available in F70. It also has an flash (not so powerful still useful). So with the extra money I have added another body (FM2N) with has DOF and also 1/250 flash sync.

Matrix metering-foolproof
Decisive spot focus-foolproof
Nikon lenses are great

Weakness:

no depth of field
quiet, but not as quiet as elan focussing

Good snapper- somewhat non analog user interface.
Like a videogame/digital watch- definetely not oldtime traditional, but more high tech.
flash is good for fill in.
Exposure for general use is faultless, much less than Canon (thanks Matrix metering) and the Nikon lenses (though more $) are superb.
Somewhat chunky grip, but firm and solid- until I felt the F100,F90x,+ =those are like rocksolid.
Canons are lighter, but feel a bit flimsier.
A quiet clicker, but Canon USM is silent.
On/off switch is easy to leave on by accident.
A great camera with a strange user interface- why do I have to learn how to use a camera?
