Strength:

Pro camera. Feels like a NIKON. Easy to use and very durable.

Weakness:

No mirror lock up.

I moved from the Canon back to Nikon. The N90s is what I was looking for. It isn't as fast and is much heavier, but it's a Nikon. I don't have to wonder abut the quality. My images have been improved since the switch.

Strength:

Very good in all departments. The DOF is very good feature.

Weakness:

The need of MF-26 Databack to get the most of the camera is like you've got robbed by Nikon.

Very good, never let me down. I use it with Nikkor 105mm, 24mm, 50mm, Tokina 28-70, Tokina 20-35 with satisfactory results. Recommended for serious photographers who are willing to buy MF26, and for those who do not want to invest on F100 for a couple dollars more. This is a serious camera, so you should also expect to buy a good flash. If you only need a lot of features, Nikon N70 or the newer N80 will be enough.

Compared to my older N601QD, N90s is very quiet and fast. Autofocus locked easily in this camera. If I compared to my roommate's Canon A2E, the N90s is much more easier to use, more confident to hold (due to the weight), and more consistent in giving good pictures.

The downside of Nikon (as compared to the Canon) is the loudness of film winder. Nikon should learn from Canon in this department. The Canons I tried were quieter than N90s, but I think the use of AF-S lenses will reduce the sound of the AF.

Strength:

Surprisingly easy to use. I had read stories about idiots who couldn't figure out how to use its functions. Fairly straight forward operartion. The basics never change.

Weakness:

I wish some ofthe features of the MB-26 data back were included in the camera. I also like the idiot icons on the camera bag for auto modes.

I have had no negative experiences with this camera so far. I've been using it for about two months now. It has met all my needs so far.

Customer Service

Strength:

A camera that has almost eveything you need! The control layout is superb and the interface is straigh forward and easy to read! With the optional MB10 vertical grip that camera is rock solid in your hands!

Weakness:

No mirror lock-up. The body has somewhat of a plasticy feel to it. But I only noticed this after using and F5 :)

A professional grade camera that can be had for a song in the used market! I definate camera from the beginer to an expert!

I have 2 N90s. I can't imagine a better camera for the price. Very durable. I like the battrey choice AA's,matches the batteries for my flashes SB, 11, 26, 28. I also use the MB-10 Great addition.

Weakness:

94% view finder, no MLU

I get paid to capture an image. The N90s enables me to have a shot at it.

Strength:

Fast AF. Easy to use. Nicely balanced. Solid feel. Able to download shooting data to computer through HarTalk cable and software, or Nikon Photosecretary.

Weakness:

Rather noisy (also product of not using AF-S lenses). No MLU. Not 100% viewfinder. Possible peeling back.

Excellent camera for the price. I have blasted it with sand (Oregon Sand Dunes), got it wet, and still it functions fine. Should be rather cheap on used market once the must-have-the-newest photographers upgrade to the F100.

Customer Service

Called them up about the peeling back (the camera is no longer under warranty) and I received a new one in less than a week. Works for me!

This is a great camera. Match it with an SB-28 flash and one of Nikon's higher end zooms and you have a killer combo that takes consistently great photos.

All the features: matrix metering, spot meter, flash capapbilities w/ SB-26/28, high fps, fast AF...

Weakness:

no MLU, 94% viewfinder, have to buy MF-26 to get add'l functions

A friend talked me into getting the N90s rather than a lower model and I'm really glad he did. I've added the MB-10 and love it, especially in vertical. It's really a lot of camera for the money.

Strength:

Acurate metering, fast AF, 3 choices of metering, easy to use and use AA batteries.

Weakness:

94% view finder, no MLU, no multi exposure unless you get the databack.

I bought this N90s when I want to upgrade from F70X. I have never regreted my decision since. It is beautiful and light. Add MB10 and give you more ergonomics. Light enough for travelling and always give me correct exposure. IMHO, value for the price is much better than the F100 (it is a great camera though) but $500 difference in money do not deliver $500 difference in result. If you have limited budget and want advanced amateur camera, N90s will be one of the top choices
