Strength:

Small size encourages taking it everywhere. Solidly built (except battery cover) Wealth of adjustments for almost all situations.

Weakness:

Kodak and Fuji were not truthful about the format''s picture limitations. Nikon calls the zooming "whisper quiet." Only if you''re deaf.

Bought the camera basically to play with. Wanted to move outside the 35mm and digital formats to see what the APS system was all about. Frankly, the results are disappointing; more because the film is not up to par, not because the camera can''t handle the job. Nikon delivered on the promise with a camera that''s easy to use, solidly built (could improve the battery cover), and with more features than most people will use. Now, if Kodak and Fuji can fix their grain and contrast problems, this format might make sense for the majority of film-based camera users.

Strength:

very light

Weakness:

The controls are very small

I already took about 350 pictures with my NIKON nuvis S , and so far I don’t have any complaints . For what I paid I expected a lot less , I was very surprise on the great quality in such a small camera .In my case I consider this small camera excellent for tourist purposes , you don’t fill its weight and is a very strong case . I proved it in several occasions and is still working like the first day . I am so happy with it that last week I order a new one for my daughter .

Strength:

Very well built camera

Weakness:

This camera takes very poor quality pictures, both indoor and out. The metering doesn't seem to see what the camera is pointed at, the flash does a very poor job, and all shots lack focus and definition. I took the camera back after 4 rolls of film. I now have a Canon Elph 370

This is NOT a Nikon quality camera. Looks good... like a beautiful girl with dirty underwear!

Strength:

Size, film loading, Nikon name.

Weakness:

Poor flash, slow zoom, poor placement of the flash, high price for a very poor camera.

I traded in a Minolta 7xi (which I never liked) for something small and more convenient. Despite the Nikon name, this camera is not worth the price that I paid. I want to get rid of it immediately and buy a Nikon N90s. APS has not lived up to the all the hype for me.

Strength:

Compact size and sleek design

Weakness:

Poor picture quality. Although I've never drop the camera and maintained it well, it's been giving me a lot of problems, such as battery drainage problems and a broken film loading catch. This is only my 10th roll of film. Flash is also very weak.

Don't buy this "pretty" camera.

Customer Service

Takes forever to reach customer service but the service is quite good if you held out long enough to speak to them..

Strength:

Good build quality (then again, ain't most Nikons?). Size is quite adequate.

Weakness:

The rest of the camera. This little camera couldn't take a clear picture in a laboratory environment. Horrible metering, horrible autofocus, and must be a horrible lens because every picture was fuzzy with little depth. The flash was sort of a mean joke by the Japanese, must of been a few that are still po'd over the war.

Thinking of carrying a small camera to catch those once in a lifetime quickies? Well this ain't the one to do it with. By the time you get it out, it extends it's lens, you adjust the zoom (REAL slow), press the shutter and wait a while for it to do whatever it does before shutter release, well - subject gone. Ends up taking fuzzy picture of whatever is left.

Weakness:

Picture quality is disgraceful

Three days before our son's first birthday we I dropped our Nikon Nuvis 125 and the casing broke and the mechanism seized up. The Nuvis 125 had served us extremely well and we were very proud of the perfect photos it produced. Given our situation we decided to upgrade to the "best" available and were prepared to pay the extra money for the Nuvis S camera.
What we got was an absolute disgrace. We took pictures indoors on my son's birthday and even with the flash the immediate surroundings were very dark and what was left was blurred and grainy. Looking a the camera, it had finger prints so I gathered it must have been a display model and took it back to be replaced. The replacement was just as bad - forever hopeful we have taken twelve or more films including three rolls from my wife's overseas trip which we developed today and all were shockers - all blurred and all grainy and many with bleached out colours. The occasional shot was reasonable but none was acceptable.
We are both extremely dissapointed with this camera and are currently looking at how to get a refund.

Strength:

Size makes it convenient, liked the hard cover

Weakness:

Poor photo quality, slow response, too expensive for this kind of quality

Where do I begin...Nikon should be embarressed to have its name on this product. I gave this camera 60 days and ten rolls of film to test it. What a failure as a product. The edges of all my photos were grainy no matter what the light or film speed.I really worked with this camera due the fact that I am used to manually setting up shots with my other cameras. I tried it in many situations. Very slow response time and you can never be sure if the flash will go off. My camera decided to reroll my film and consider it exposed after a mid-roll change out yet there were only 3 exposed shots/frames. It neglected to imprint the dates on my photos as well though the information had been set up correctly on LED screen. This is a definite "DON'T buy" camera. I have been taking and developing pictures for many years and have never had a camera do such a poor job. I have returned it and am much happier with my new Canon elph 2.

Model Reviewed: Nuvis S APS Camera

Strength:

Compact, stainless steel case, loaded with features, great belt clip holster from Nikon ($20), and new red-eye reduction system.

Weakness:

Admit that my pictures did turn out grainy, but I don't know if it was because of ISO 200 film or 30mm APS format. 8oz, which is a few onces heavier than other APS I compared. My 35mm disposable was just as grainy as my first roll I shot.

With my first roll of indoors restaurant pictures, I like the red-eye reduction which didn't do the strobe effect. What it does is give a soft light coming from the camera for a couple of seconds then the flash for the exposure. Colors were vibrant, and really couldn't detect than much grain from my first roll. May be a different story when I take outdoors/daylight pictures… Love it so far because it does what I wanted this APS camer to do. I wanted APS and point/shoot system for casual pictures. Going on a trip this weekend to East coast and if my picturse do turn out bad will write another honest review...
