Strength:

clasic outlook, compact size, aluminum & plastic body with fine finish, sharp lens.

Weakness:

slow shutter speed at low light condition.

I shoot five rolls with this camera, the photos are very sharp & contrast. Autofocus is fast, metering is accurate, flash is powerful. The only thing i don't like is shooting in low light condition with flash off the shutter speed is too slow.

Model Reviewed: Sure Shot Classic 120

Strength:

Compact and light; lens produces very sharp and colorful images; controls are easy to use and provide quick access to numerous flash/focus/exposure settings; quick shutter response and wind; very accurate autofocus and exposure.

Weakness:

Lens is too slow. Camera would be greatly improved by shortening range of zoom, increasing lens speed, and providing aperture-preferred automatic exposure.

The Sure Shot Classic 120 takes excellent photographs, especially in the 38-80 mm zoom range. Zoom extends to 120 mm, but that is (in my opinion) excessive. I spent several weekends comparing a Leica Minilux with the Canon, and ultimately kept the Canon: it produced photographs (with print film) which, for sharpness, were nearly the equal of the Minilux, but the Canon is easier to use, has a more accurate focusing system, is lighter and more compact, provides perspective control through the zoom, and costs $400 less. I just wish Canon would make a version of the Classic 120 with a shorter and faster zoom, aperture-priority automatic exposure, and ISO override.

Strength:

Sharp Lense! (even at 120mm, it's still pretty good)
Compact Size (not the smallest, but comfortable in my hand both in the size and weight)
Elegant Styling
AI Servo AF (Sport Mode) (what I always wanted from a P&S)
Accurate AF
Realtime shutter release!
Personal Mode to save preferences

Easy of use, but also provide the following features to tweak your
pictures
Exposure Compensation (+- 1.5ev)
Spot mode
and more

Weakness:

I propably am complaining the following things with the comparision with an SLR!

Wish the lens could be faster! (use faster films 400 or 800 can help)
Wish the lens could start from 28mm instead of 38mm

Not suitable for taking Close-up pictures
(a common problem for P&S cameras, what you see is not what you got in a close distance)
I have to lock the AF and re-compose the picture (move the camera) with the other
frame indicator for close-up pictures. I normally end up with out of
focus and/or the object still off the pictures.
I now always have to remind myself not to be close to the object
when I take pictures with it, to avoid recomposing my pictures.

Flash light always pop out on the left side even it's not needed. It took me
some time to get used to hold it because the light pop out on the left side.

I strongly recommend it!!

I compared the result from my Canon Sure Shot 120, Canon Photura 135,
Canon Elan IIe with EF 28~105mm lens.

I have been using Canon Photura 135 for 7 years. I like it quite much.
It gives me nice pictures usually. I got a new born daughter and started
taking much more pictures and need a camera with Date Imprint to help
me track when pcitures were taken.

I started looking for an SLR camera because I always thought I couldn't
find a better P&S than Photura, out-of-focus pictures from a P&S
camera and missing the right moment due to shutter lag sometimes.
I bought a Canon Elan IIe QD plus a EF 28~105mm to get good result.
(This should be a very good comb for a SLR beginner).

After getting the SLR, I still missed a P&S a lot because my SLR
is large & heavy for me to carry around. I started looking for
a good P&S with QD. at first I was interested in Olympus' Style
fix focal length one. But I happened to read reviews of sure shot
120 and as soon as I learned its nice features and feedbacks, I
bought one "immediately" without doing more research or even going
to a local store to try it first. I really did make a right choose!!

The pictures are very sharp even outperform my Elan IIe sometimes!!
I so far only use 400 and 800 for indoor low light situation;
it's 120mm end also works fine.
the camera works very well; the flash is not so strong as Photura,
but adequate for my needs indor.

This camera solves the problems I had with Photura,

1. out-of-focus pictures occasionally.
I haven't had any out-of-focus ones so
far several rolls, except some close-up pictures.

2. real-time shutter.
It focus the lens immediately when you press the
shutter halfway down, Most of P&S cameras don't focus
until you fire the shutter. Photura has real-time shutter,
but slower.

3. I always wanted to be able to catch a moving object
with a P&S. However, I had not seen any other P&S has
AI Servo AF to keep tracking (focusing) your object
until you are ready to take the picture.
This is like a dream come true for me!

Battery is inexpensive @ Walmart & KMart.

Buy one you won't regret. Just don't use it to
take close-up pictures in my opinion.

Strength:

This camera is very easy to understand. Anyone can use it. Great size.

Weakness:

I don't like the flash that pops out of the left side. I guess it will take some time to get used to it.

This is a new camera. Time will tell how good the pictures will be. I like all of the different modes and caption feature. I searched for the P&S
that would fit my needs. This seemed to be it.
I will post further info when I get more pictures back. Great camera to take every where.

Who writes these camera reviews? The
manufacturer's Rep? Some of these reviews
might be as bogus as my email address,
but this 120 Sure Shot does deliver. This
camera has metal film zoom and film
advance mechanism - very important.

Weakness:

The flash, of course. Eventualy it will get
damaged from being deployed when not
needed.

Buy now. You know how flaky the camera manufacturers are. This camera will likely
be discontinued soon. They don't realize that esthetically a camera that looks like a
mini Contax will be more desirable than one with the stupid futuristic curves and
bulges.

Strength:

Very sharp and contrast lens which rival the SLR lenses. Personal shooting mode allow for greater versatility. Nice zoom range. Beautiful Aluminum camera body. Shake warning indicator for sure shot every time. Cheap considering what you are getting.

Weakness:

Flash light pop out whenever the camera is turned on and it pops out to the side. Lens can be a little faster.

The best point and shoot zoom camera you can buy at present time in my opinion. Overall a wonderful little camera you will sure love and enjoy.

Strength:

Looks, feel, handling, shutter fires when you press the button! autofocus system, best-shot dial, spot metering, sharpness of lens.

Weakness:

Buttons to set flash modes etc are a little fiddly to use.

Until I found this camera I was filled with horror at the range of P&S cameras available today. I foolishly lost my beloved Pentax Espio and this is the replacement.
This is the only camera I tried that I can live with – the bonus is that I can MORE than live with it. Only a wider wide-angle would improve it.
