Strength:

Good feel
Nice layout of functions
Light weight
Easy to use...and multitudes of features

Weakness:

Flash extending out every time
Case not included

Just bought the camera 3 days ago...after reading all the other posts on this camera at this website. I couldn't justify spending up to $1000 on a Leica. I feel that if this camera can take pictures comparable to my SLR's, then I'll be happy!!

Strength:

Takes excellent pictures, easy to use controls, lots of picture taking options, fast focus, looks good.

Weakness:

Bulky

I spent a lot of time researching and shopping for this camera and the reviews in this web site definitely affected my decision to buy this camera. This camera takes excellent pictures. Although it is a little bulky, the extra size is worth it. In addition to the excellent quality of the pictures, the controls are very well thought out and easy to use. Unlike many point and shoot cameras, the Sure Shot 120 snaps a shot very quickly once you focus on your subject. This makes it much easier to get the exact "people" shot that you want.

Strength:

This camera has the sharpest, jump out at you results of ALL the P&S zoom cameras. I tried EVERY brand with the same film, same light conditions etc. The only one that came close was the Olympus 140 and I don't like that clamshell design. It can close on you too easily.
Pentax was dull(too bad because I lone that 120MI, but the results were like all the Pentax P&S, kinda grayish and dull), Yashica was yellowish, etc.

Weakness:

1. I would have liked the flash to stay in the camera body when not being used.
2. I'd like a faster lens, but who wouldn't!

After spending over $50 on film and processing, I have all the test pics. This camera beats every other zoom P&S for quality color rendition and jump out clarity. The wheel on the back allows you to preset different picture situations and you can also set a unique one of your own. The camera remembers preferences like red-eye reduction, and spot metering. It's easy enough for even a housewife :) to use. I should write an article with my picstures, but there's not enough interest..is there?

Strength:

Very easy to use, love the shot dial, helps to get a quick shot off. I also love the red-eye reduction feature, unlike others I've seen. Very good buy, sharp pictures, great zoom and AF.

Weakness:

Wierd flash, but I was used to after the first roll.

Very good buy, highly recommend this one. I researched a ton, and it came down to this or the Minolta 125 Freedom Zoom, but I am happy with puchase.

Customer Service

Strength:

Simple and concise enough to let someone else take good quality pictures of you. That's why
I decided to put my SLR down during these times.

Weakness:

flash popping out all the time.

I processed my second roll of film that I shot with my new camera.
I took a few night shots with the starlight feature. Geez, the pictures were great.
Word of advice: I suggest using a tri-pod while using this feature.
My macro shot were also crisp and clear. I was impressed with the camera's
flash coverage, which seemed to be quite adequate in the darkest shooting conditions.
Although it's flash range could be longer, I am quite happy with it.

Strength:

Quick shutter,
good focus, nice flash,
love the shot dial

Weakness:

Camera popping out everytime at the left side...feels fragile

Looked at the reviews on this site about this camera and it convinced me to buy one. Simply put, you can't really take a bad shot unless you're shaking like a leaf. Flash was more than adequate to cover a wide range of area. The shot dial makes it easy to switch modes. It feels sturdy and has a nice weight balance. You just have to get used to the flash popping out everytime. One of my friends who has been doing photography for 20+ years looked at some of the photos I took on my last vacation and was very impressed with the results. I bug him now to junk his SLR and get this camera!

Strength:

I liked the metal zoom lens instead of the usual plastic you see. I also like the "classic" styling. Controls on back of camera easy to use. I like the "shot" dial with icons on the back for pic selector.

Weakness:

On my 1st camera, either it has a defective auto focus system or poor lens as the pics were not at all acceptable. Must say that I'm giving Canon an opportunity to make it right by either fixing camera #1 or replacing it with a new one #2. Still waiting.

I bought this after giving an older Fuji P&S to my daughter in college. My 1st 2 or 3 rolls were very disappointing; pics were too "soft" and out of focus. Not critically sharp even at point of focus. I thought I had really made a mistake in buying this camera until I read a review at this site. One user had a similar review and returned the camera for exchange. The 2nd Canon 120 turned out to be outstanding. I feel much better after emailing that reviewer to learn what happened. Since my camera was well past the 14 day return policy I had no choice but to send it back to Canon for review and inspection. That's where I'm at now...waiting on the return or replacement of my camera. My source tells me Canon is good about warranty service; we'll see how that goes.

Customer Service

My camera is now at Canon Factory Service in Hanover Park, IL as of this writing Jan 15, 2001. WE'll see just how good they are!

Strength:

The small size is great. With other small cameras I tried, the red-eye was bad because of the flash being too close to the lens. With the pop-out flash, there's alot less red-eye with this camera. Pictures come out great; nice and sharp.

Weakness:

None that I've found, and I've been using this camera for about a year.

I've had a Yashica, Minolta, and an Olympus and this one is by far the best. The small size makes it easy to take along, and hold with one hand. The dial on the back is easy to use. I don't mind the flash popping out, because with the small cameras that I tried where the flash doesn't pop out at all, the red-eye was horrendous. I absolutely love this camera!

Couple of issues with past reviews:

Alan Sherman-are you kidding about this camera being bulky?? You mention that "the extra size is worth it". I researched high and low for a small camera, and this was one of the smallest I found. Not bulky in the least.

Jerry Perell: You're right-it is easy enough for a housewife to use. ;)

Strength:

Small and very compact, metal body, very easy to use, and the metering and autofocus system is accurate.

Weakness:

The flash pops out all the time.

I bought this camera for my wife and I haven't stopped using it since, it's that good. I was a bit nervous about buying another point and shoot camera.(Canon Sure Shot 1983) When I first purchased the camera I thought how can anything this small be any good for anything, boy was I wrong. This camera will be great for vacations because of it's size and picture taking ability. My pictures for the most part are as good as my Nikon F-90x and about a fifth of the price. If there is a better point and shoot camera out there, please let me know so I can go buy it!

Strength:

Solid build quality,
super sharp pictures, very versatile, great zoom.

Weakness:

No panoramic mode, not water resistant.

My Pentax finally crapped out after about five years (or at least the error code that is probably automatically set to go off after five years told me it had crapped out). Anyway, I bought the Olympus to replace it, was not at all happy with the pictures it took, and decided to check out this site. I exchanged the Olympus for the Canon and could not be happier. It seems to be a fantastic camera so far. I love the heft to it (it just feels solid) and the pictures have been really, really, good. I highly recommend this camera to anyone interested in a point and shoot. Great value for a 120 zoom camera.
