Strength:

It was splashproof.

Weakness:

Early death.

When it worked, the images were what I would expect from a camera of this price point. I had found it an acceptable convenient P&S to carry around, and splashproofness was a plus. Until one day it decided to not work any more. In the middle of a roll of film, at one moment it worked, then it didn''t... the lens refused to come out any more upon opening the camera, and an error message flashed in the display panel. Changed batteries, recycled, nothing worked. I can think of no reason a camera should just die, without any abuse, and within such a short time of purchase. I have a long tradition of small Olympus purchases, from a couple of XA''s in the early 80''s, to an AF Infinity Twin purchased in 1989 (all are still chugging along nicely today). But I have found this Olympus Zoom to be a big fat disappointment, and I shall rate it a big fat zero for undependability and brevity of life but unfortunately there is no provision for rating it below 1. This sort of broke the Olympus tradition for me, I may replace it with a Lexio or Samsung/Rollei.

Strength:

The optics is very good. I don''t have much problems with focus. I used this camera for weddings and it is second only to the professional photographers (that''s why they are paid). Sharp optics and good flash response. I don''t use it for landscape or art, I think it is best suited as a portrait-people camera. Lastly, it is light and very portable.

Weakness:

The viewfinder is pretty hard to see through, and strangers who use it always get confused on which is the shutter button or the zoom button.

I see a lot of mixed reviews about this camera, so I thought I should put my 2 cents. This is a very cheap camera that gives acceptable performance. Is there any P&S camera that can give better exposure than this $150 camera? Okay, I do admit that these camera have poor workmanship and quality, so some people could be having lemons. I don''t know. I have this camera for almost 2 years and it still performs well. Of course, it isn''t a SLR, but for well-lit environments, it is very good.

Strength:

Small size, good colour and contrast

Weakness:

You absolutely have to hold this camera rock steady otherwise you get blurry pictures, even with 400 speed film. This is a strong disadvantage, particularly when trying get get a 'quick shot'.

I am still looking for the perfect point and shoot. I own a Nikon F100 and was looking for a decent p $ s. Looks like I made the wrong choice.

Strength:

Small size, very convenient to carry, clear sharp pictures provided you hold it rock still in anything but bright sunlight.

Weakness:

You have to hold it rock still in anything but bright sunlight. Slow lens is about the same you'd find on most other point and shoots but seems to be more of an issue with this camera. Also, I keep inadvertently turning it off by touching the lens cover the wrong way - maybe I'll get used to it.

Just what I was looking for in terms of size and quality of pictures. A monopod would be a good accessory to own though!

I didn't like it since it broke down on me twice, had to replace it, too much hassle, it takes good pictures but so do other cameras out there now at lower price. This one is too pricey adn you don't get that many options anyway. I tried a different brand and now think Olympus wasn't a right choice for me.

Great picture for the buck... very compact and light. This 35mm format is nice with great depth, although the shutter speed can be little faster. I have purchased the Canon ELPH APS before this one, the ELPH can't compare the picture quality wtih this Stylus.

This is a great little camera! I picked it up at my local WAL-MART for $148.00. I had just taken back the olympus superzoom 115 b/c it took horrible, out of focus photographs. I decided to pick up the stylus epic zoom 80 (the champaign colored Quartz Date Version). I have never been so pleased with a camera as i am with my new olympus. EVERY picture came out sharp and exposed correctly. This camera really makes your pictures look as if they were taken by a professional. I got them developed at RITZ one hour developing and everything looked great (best photo mat i've been too also -- check them out) I would HIGHLY suggest you go out and purchase this camera....you will not regret it! :O)

I bought this because it was really light, and weather-proof. This is important for me, because I wanted a camera that I could take rock climbing, tramping and mountainbiking. It does it's job well, and I hardly notice it, even if it is my back pocket.
If I were to buy it again, I would probably go without the zoom, but it is handy some of the time. It can do quite good artistic photos that you would normally use an SLR for.
