Fantastic design. Great pictures for a compact P&S camera.

If you're looking for a solid, all-around, compact P&S, this is it!! Got this about a month ago to use on upcoming honeymoon to French Polynesia. Shot a few rolls so far with very good results. You'll be quite happy if you decide to make this your on-the-go P&S!!!!

Strength:

Great size/capability ratio. Weather resistant clamshell case. Reliable crisp photography.

Weakness:

Really fussy loading film. Needs a spot meter.

Carrying a camera just when you think there will be a photo opportunity is like using your seatbelt just when you think you might have an accident. I carry the little Olympus with me all the time. As a result I get more pictures from it than from my sophisticated SLR. If you read the manual and understand what the camera is doing, it will never give you an out of focus or poorly exposed shot.

Weather proof (good thing in Oregon!)
Slot in back to show when film is loaded

Weakness:

Hard to set date/time

I've used the camera at swim meets indoors. The zoom is OK if you are close to the event. Also, the flash is not strong enough to compensate for poor indoor lighting. I suggest useing high speed film and get closer. The shots I took up close are great. Also, train your subjects not to walk away after the preflash flash goes off. I had to take some over because the subjects thought the redeye reduction mode was the picture begin taken.

Strength:

Easy to use, durable, takes great pictures, and looks good!

Weakness:

The camera body scratches easily

I bought this camera for a trip to Bali and was very happy with the pictures that I took with it. It is very compact, lightweight and easy to use. It was dropped once on some rocks and it still continued to work fine. For the money, its a great buy!

This camera is great! I carry it with me everywhere. it has really held up nicely. It consistently takes good pictures. I bought it for about $150.

Weakness:

The viewfinder is a little small...

I work at a Ritz camera. I looked at all the cameras we carry and talked to a lot of different customers. Based on price and quality, I feel I made the best decision. I love this camera.

Strength:

Compact, sharp photos, effortless.

Weakness:

My first unit was serviced because the film wouldn't always load.

I enjoy the camera as a supplement to my SLR Nikon N70. The size is something to pay extra attention to when purchasing...for large hands such as mine it can be awkward at first to get used to such a small camera. Also, like most point and shoots focusing is very centered and one needs to be aware of that if they are used to an SLR and more flexibility. Overall the camera takes very good pictures.

Strength:

Weather resistant, ease of use, Good but not great lense.

Weakness:

Lense range only 38mm to 80mm,

Overall a decent point and shoot with good but not great lense quality. Shoots a little slow at longer foacal lengths. Focal range is limited, the stylus 80 wide (28mm to 80mm)is much better for all around use. Easy to use overall.

keep in mind this is a hobby camera--this is a great value

Weakness:

none for a hobbyist camera

A friend who is a professional photographer gave me some very good advice--don't spend over 200. dollars for a non-SLR camera. Her secondary camera to have for fun was an Olympus.
Last August, my camera broke down right before back-to-school time. I was in a pinch and had to make a decision fast. I went to 2 local camera shops, target, wal-mart, service merchandise and explained that I was in the market for a camera but wanted to know their return policy before making a selection. after all explained their return policy, I indicated that I wanted to purchase a camera with the understanding that if I was not happy with the 1st roll of film, I could return it--no questions asked. They all agreed and I tried aprox 6 cameras from different manufacturers in the 150.00--200.00 range. The Olympus was the hands down winner and I havent regretted it since. And by the way, the only true no questions asked return policy was Target. You could return it within 90 days with no hassle. The other stores ranged from rude to belligerant (sp).

This is an excellent camera. Got it for my girlfriend as a hiking, Mt. Biking, and Nordic Skiing camera; we use a Canon A1 for the rest of our photography. For the money, the size, and everything else, this is a great camera for those situations where you can't / don't want to lug around a SLR.
