Strength:

size, weight, picture definition, easy to load, case has long strap which I wear over my shoulder

Weakness:

my only complaint is that the battery was not included in the original purchase. Most other comanies I was looking at did include this and I had the extra expense which I felt was on the chincy side

I have always wanted an Olympus camera because of their size. I have small hands and the regular SLR's are sometimes hard to work for me. I travel a lot and got tired of carrying 3 cameras..one for regular, one for panaramic, and one for zoom. I decided to see what cameras run and hit a sale and decided to purchase the camera.

Strength:

small, light, good zoom range.

Weakness:

Can only use 400 or 800 speed film.

I've had this camera for a year (purchased last X-mas) and have put about 15 rolls through it. It has stood up pretty well. The bottom hinge of the little door for the battery broke although it is still attatched and the back has some small scratches from when it was in my pocket w/ my keys all day. The only thing is that you really have to use 400 or 800 speed film due to the aperture range. I've used 400 indoors but it is not as good. a capable camera very highly reccomended. I probably won't be using it as much since I'll be getting a Nikon N80 in days.

Strength:

compact, good zoom for a small camera, weatherproof

Weakness:

blurred pics when you don't have steady hand, weak flash

Like alot of people, I bought this camera because is so compact and convenient to carry around & also I read the ratings here and I saw at other sites, it's one of the hottiest items wanted. I was very disappointed when I got my prints back. I used at a wedding, and there are quite many pics that came out blurred. I agreed with some of the reviews here, you definitely need a pair of extremely steady hands to focus, otherwise you'd get unsatisfied result.

Strength:

Compact, light weight, all weather resistant, looks nice

Weakness:

Not well engineered, zoom lens movement is slow, the zoom button is opposite to what you might expect (push twords you to zoom out), view finder is horrible

I found the view finder to be very small and blurry, it was hard to position my eye correctly to see through the view finder clearly, the zoom lens has to move in and out for each picture taking session even if you do not intend to zoom which wears out the battery much faster, when you open the lens cover to turn it on it does not always turn on, sometimes I had to push it shut and give it a good push out to engage the power switch. I ended up deciding to return it before first roll of film was even developed.

Strength:

Sliding cover, Size( or so I thought)

Weakness:

Size, viewfinder, slow moving and choppy moving zoom, LCD display, picture quality

I owned a Pentax SLR and Sony Video camera and used the Video most of the time. I wanted to upgrade my PS camera as I had a Ricoh Tele for almost 9 years and it still works great, even better than the Olympus. I did not want to lug around my SLR AND video camera, and my Ricoh did not have certain flash and other features I wanted now like the Olympus has. I did quite a bit of research and luckily found that Costco sold this model at a great price! I like the compact size and design which other moderate zoom PS cameras did not have. I found the Olympus to be hard to use because of it's size, (too small actually) the viewfinder not clear and small in size and the pictures not as sharp as I was led to believe. The viewfinder actually represented a much smaller picture area than you will actually get with 4 x 6 prints. I found this annoying as well. I actually found many other brands around the same or less price that were bigger, with standard lens covers I will seriously look at now. If you want a fair PS camera that is ultra small, this cannot be beat. But if standard size PS cameras are your thing, you might be better off looking at another brand.

Strength:

small, lightweight, protective cover,pretty look.

Weakness:

Where do I begin? I'll hit most of the highlights..If you use the wrong mode, your pics our almost worthless! Halos around subjects, blurred pics (most of our baby's 1st xmas pics were ruined!),red-eye reduction never worked and everyone blinked their eyes closed during it.

Very disappointed with this camera. Pricey and definitely not worth it. Our cheap kodak performed better (except for not being capable of doing close-ups,which is why we were in the market for a new camera). After developing 4 rolls, it was returned without hesitating.

Strength:

Style, size and weight.

Weakness:

Zoom mechanism is too slow and feels cheap. A tripod should have been included cause it's the only way to get a focused shot. Pictures are dull taken in a variety of different situations...and red-eye reduction???...the only time it worked is when everyone had shut their eyes completely to avoid blindness due to the multiple flashes.

Overall, this camera is definitely not worth the price. After trying out 3 rolls of film (convinced myself that wasn't the problem...of course after totally eliminating myself), I returned the camera and bought a Canon Classic SureShot 120.

Good camera for price...

Weakness:

Handle with care!!!

Great overall camera for beginners and professionals alike. Good range of lighting and takes care of a lot of headaches that accompany the use of SLRs. Even as an expert using SLR in my daily photography, I use this camera when I got out with the family and return with pictures that are almost equal to the ones that I take with the SLR....

Strength:

Design (Beautiful! Isn´t it?) General working is GREAT! Olympus quality is always a life insurance.

Weakness:

It weaks the battery quite fast, need steady hand when taking pics with night modes

I wanted an Olympus camera because after 10 years using my older Trip MD2 I never had a single problem. I wanted a little camera so I could carry it everywhere everytime. I don´t need professional quality photos, I just need to be sure that my pics will always be good ones, without bother myself on how to place the subjects. With my Stylus Epic I just need to worry about pointing and shoot, and the camera does the rest by itself. After using my camera for more than a month and spent 3 rolls (ISO400), the results can´t be better, even taking pics in almost absolute darkness! The only thing you´ve got to be careful is that you have to use the different flash modes carefully, you have to know how to shoot with each one, it will take you the first roll to practice before you domine completely every mode. But after that, you´ll have in your hand an invaluable tool to remember your best moments. A GREAT CAMERA!
