Strength:

Size, water resistance, accuracy of exposures and versatility

Weakness:

None that I've found

I still love my Nikon SLR's but this is one nice camera. Just drop it into your pocket and you're ready to go. I don't agree with some people who feel that high speed film is needed. I've used 200 ASA with no problems at all.

Yes, the zoom range is limited, it's got a somewhat weak flash and it's a battery eater. So what. If I want more camera I lug around a Nikon FM and an assortment of stuff. That's not what this camera is about.

Strength:

Quick to respond, easy to handle. Fairly sharp photos. I've shot photos during heavy rainfall that came out well and have banged it up a bit without impacting the quality. A good camera for the price.

Weakness:

The flash is too bright; many night photos are overexposed. The zoom mechanism is dicey.

I was very happy with this camera as a supplement to my steadfast Nikon. But the lens mechanism always seemed very fragile to me -- and my concerns were dead on. After 6 months of use the zoom broke. I would not buy this camera again despite its attractive features.

Strength:

Very easy to use. Very nice quality pictures are possible even for someone like me who takes "point-and-shoot" very litterally. I imagine that more technical user could get really good results. Quite compact.

Weakness:

Plastic feels a bit cheap, and I certainly wouldn't want to put this camera through too much abuse despite it being "weatherproof".
Buttons on top too small.

A good camera for casual photographers like me; reliability might be an issue (see weaknesses) in the long run, but I've heard generally good things about Olympus products. An easy recommendation for this type of camera.

Strength:

Sharpness, size and exposure accuracy

Weakness:

No that I've found

Nope, it won't outperfom my SLR's, but it's not supposed to.

I bought this camera to carry around in my pocket or to take places where a large camera might not be welcome.

It suits the purpose for which it was intended and does so quite well.

I bought the camera and only after 1 week the camera started making noise as if it was taking
pictures , (the film was entered)correctly .....and these sounds along with LCD displays on the camera occurred when the camera
was not in use ???? Needless to say I was very
disappointed especially after all the good reviews
the camera received !!!!

Strength:

Small size, looks,

Weakness:

Case scratches easily, cover switch, lense range.

This is a great looking camera but that gold finish scratches off pretty easily (think you can get it in black), picture results are generally very good but the odd time there are problems with focus and exposure, The clamshell on off switch is a little quirky, I've often turned the camera off just touching the cover and I'd have to wait for the lens to retract before I can switch it on again. 35mm just isn't wide enough for those group pictures. You can take great pictures with this camera once you learned it's limitations (2-3rolls of film). But I'll save the action shots for my SLR.

Strength:

very small
weather resistant
foolproof clamshell design
relatively quick shutter release

Weakness:

pricey, but should be durable

I have had the Olympus Stylus Epic Deluxe fixed 35mm lens for almost 4 years and it has survived countless horrible environments: inside my shirt next to my sweaty skin, kayaking in a small ziplock bag, wedding banquets, mountain biking, all kinds of situations. Now, I wanted a zoom, but prefer the lightweight and small size of the Epic- That is where this zoom comes in. I prefer a wider angle like a 28mm, but have found out that I fill the frame better with the 38-80= more important stuff in the frame. The lens is nice and contrasty. Sharpness seems to be close to the Epic, which is excellent for a small camera. For such a small and pocketable camera, it is almost perfect. I love the clamshell design- it does protect the camera extremely well and is better than other makers clamshells. In fact, it is only slightly bigger than the fixed 35mm camera and I can wear the strap around my neck for convenience.

Strength:

The camera is very easy to use. I'm really glad my wife wouldn't let me take her Stylus Zoom 70 when I walked 50 miles on the Appalachain Trail earlier this year. The 80 has a great panoramic feature and the viewfinder makes it easy to tell when to use it. My pictures turned out great. I consider the camera durable, able to handle some rough trail without incident.

Weakness:

Carefully read the auto focus instructions and you will do okay after one or two rolls.

When reviewing my albums, people keep asking what type of camera I used to get such great shots. They are surprised when I tell them it was a point-and-shoot camera.

Strength:

- small
- decent picture quality from the lens

Weakness:

- image quality goes really bad at the telephoto end.
- slow

i bought one for my mother-in-law. but i use it most of the time for outings since i am the "official" photographer for family affairs.

using pro films like NPH yields really decent photos (4x6) that's indistinguishable from SLR shots...well at least for most people...AT THE WIDE and MID-RANGE of the lens. at the TELEPHOTO end...the picture quality is pretty much like the crappy P&S out there. i wouldn't trust this for slide films...

Strength:

1. Sharp
2. Good clarity
3. Size

Weakness:

1. Flare near corner and high F number.
2. Color rendation is not top quality.
3. Bokeh is still not excellent.

1. This camera kit is not expensive.
It gives 38-80mm range and quite sharp and
contrasty. But still need to improve color rendation.
