Strength:

@ absolutely _wonderful_ picture clarity
@ very little lag between pressing the shutter release button and the actual shutter release at wide angle
@ small size and sleek features
@ "available light" sensors regulate the flash and the shutter speed so every picture is properly exposed
@ panorama mode alters the viewfinder so as to find the best shot

Weakness:

@ autofocus sometimes picks the wrong thing to focus on
@ menu buttons are small and sometimes hard to press repeatedly when cycling through the flash mode menu
@ need a tripod or other support for some night pictures as the camera is very susceptible to movement

I bought this camera after extensive research on the internet and "field research" in stores by trying out all the cameras in sight. I was sick of buying disposables since they don't have a zoom lens and none of the ones I used had exceptional picture quality. (You get what you pay for...)

This camera takes exceptionally clear pictures. I took a roll of ISO 200 film in all light conditions imaginable. I copied the idea of a previous reviewer and took pictures in normal mode with no light at all in the room. When I got the pictures back from the developer, there were no scrapped pictures (the pictures that looked bad were my fault from getting used to the camera) and the ones I took with no light in the room were indistinguishable from the ones taken in lit conditions! It's wonderful to be able to capture the moment and know the picture will be clear... much less frustrating than posing for my mother while she fiddles with the focus dials on her SLR.

I also made a point of taking many action shots, since I specifically looked for a camera that would be able to handle snowboarding trips. I took pictures of skateboarders (since it's the wrong time of year for snowboarding), and although the instruction manual recommends ISO 400 film, most of the ones taken on ISO 200 turned out clear as a bell.

The small size and clamshell design is a must for me since the more durable it is, the better it is for snowboarding trips. I have not encountered the problem of accidentally shutting off the camera that other reviewers have cited. I find that if you hold the camera in the web between your thumb and forefinger with the fingers facing down and gripping, the chances of shutting it off are slim.

Overall, this camera is great once you get used to its few quirks. It was a bit pricey ($259can before tax), but after doing the research, nothing could even compare to this camera. I would recommend it to a person who already has some experience with photography, as the many features can be intimidating/wasted on a beginner.

Strength:

compact, sleek, decent range

Weakness:

lense cover closure...stopped working after awhile, got it fixed for 1/2 the price of the camera (at cost though it probably should have been covered by warranty), then broke again. Can take anywhere from 5-15 tries to get it to close, and the zoom will only go to either full extension or none at all, also small viewfinder is difficult to use at night

I used to love this camera....til it stopped closing and zooming, now I hate it and am looking for something else.

Customer Service

eh...only so-so, warranty problems

Strength:

Small, well-made, good quality and simple to use.

Weakness:

Nope!

Called the Mju II in Europe, it has given excellent results in most conditions and has been completely trouble-free. Some red-eye but that is the problem with a flash so close to the lens; I do not use pre-flash as you can miss the moment. I recommend it compeletely.

Small and Light. I used it on a back country fishing trip. It fell into the river and it took several seconds to fish it out. The camera worked perfectly and it hasn't even blinked

Weakness:

1st product had a problem with the LCD. The retailer replaced it.

The best little camera I have used.
Highly Recommend

Strength:

It is portable, shoots good pictures quickly, and you don't have to worry about losing the lens cover, or trying to focus and futz with the settings.

Weakness:

It got dropped once(and slid on a large rock), and needed a trip back to get repaired.

I have an earlier version(stylus zoom), and the only limitation that I have hit is that the zoom isn't powerful enough. The autofocus is ocasionally fooled into focusing on an object other then the intended target, but by and large, the photos are good enough to have other people drooling(regularly).

Customer Service

came back properly repaired in a reasonable amount of time

Bought the equivalent camera two years ago. The camera takes very crisp and colourful photos. On a trip to Nepal the photos from this camera were better then a similar photo taken with an expensive SLR. Superb pictures.

Weakness:

It might have a weather resistant sticker on the outside but like any camera it is very prone to any small drops or shakes.

I love the camera but unfortunately it did not survive my backpacking holiday. As the cost is so high I am going to try out the latest Minolta Riva Zoom which is almost half the price.

I really like the size and ease of use on this camera. Didn't know if I would like the date on the front of the pictures but it is really not noticable much and is much smaller print than some that I have seen.

Weakness:

Love this camera. The zoom is great and again the size of this camera is a big plus for me. My Canon EOS Rebel is just too bulky to cart around everywhere. My husband got the Canon for me for Christmas and spent 2x's the money on it and you can't even get it near water or the beach! The weather resistant feature on the Olympus is a great benefit!!
