Strength:
Nice & small
Weakness:
- ALL my pictures taken with the flash overexposed the subjects - they look like ghosts. 3-4 feet is too short a distance for this flash. Very good small camera, all in all. Customer Service None - never needed it (knock in wood) Similar Products Used: NO other PSs, only SRLs |

Strength:
Price, compact size, high quality, fast lens, good design, nice-looking (I got gold DLX version).
Weakness:
Sometimes it's hard to change the settings on the camera (buttons're just too small for my fingers). I also would like to have a manual controls over some settings. If you're looking for a low priced high quality P&S camera and don't care about zoom, this is the one to own. It's one of the very rare cases when you don't have to spend a fortune for the quality optics. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: Ricoh GR-1, Pentax IQZoom |

Strength:
Easy to have with you
Weakness:
None Called the mju-II in the UK. This camera is always with me as it's so easy to pocket. Recently when taking some shots of a shallow Welsh stream, I slipped and fell soaking myself and dunking the camera.Water got into the camera and lens. After allowing it to dry out, it works perfectly again. Customer Service None needed, even after Similar Products Used: XA2 |

I really like the small body: it is very compact, light and comfortable to handle. It is easy to carry around on trips, because you can comfortably wear it around your neck with the original strap. I depend on mine for casual people pictures, especially at night when using a manual camera can take more time. I carry mine around with me wherever I go because I can always fit it in my bag without noticing it’s presence. Very useful. It seems to be durable. I would recommend it for anyone who wants a camera to keep with them all the time, or to take to parties and other special events.
Weakness:
The flash can create excessive red eye. It is not great at taking pictures of objects on tables- like birthday cakes etc. It might be harder to use for people with large fingers. A great little camera. Good price, takes wonderful pictures. A good gift for a careful child, or a good purchase for a person who wants a simple but quality camera. It can be easily taken everywhere, and sure beats any disposable camera! Customer Service none needed Similar Products Used: olympus D-490Z |

miniturization and sophistication means clumsiness for the hamheads ok, so i am a gadget slave, so what- here is goes... olympus has always made hi grade photo tools for the masses, sometimes eclipsing the needs and sophistication of the masses. i have an old olympus half frame olympus pen camera which has a lens so sharp it would shame most point and shoots out there and it was made of metal inside and out. it was also priced reasonably for the time. mr. olympus has very high standards. the xa series of compact cameras offered control and sophistication well ahead of its time. now the stylus series- i also have the original olypus stylus, which is a superb symmetrical design by the way, actually my brother stole it from me- is the cutting edge for point and shoots. no other brand has such a unified perfect design both for function and cosmetic performance in a compact camera. olympuses digital cameras all have excellent fast optics that are head and shoulders ahead of the competition. this is the olympus mantra, a marriage of superior optics and overall design without peer in the industry. all designers acknowledge this fact even though they work elsewhere. the epic is a sophisticated camera, but even in the hands of a novice, you can get great shots. for the intermediate photog, you can be more creative- using the spot meter, night mode and focus lock. novices do have to worry about the small central focus and the ability of the camera to shoot before locking focus. also, when shooting bright subjects with a dark background, the camera will overexpose unless you use spot meter or night mode. this may be an error in the metering program or maybe an oversight-fix it. the sharpness of the lens varies because of camera shake and that you must be a bit careful to lock focus. otherwise, the lens is capable of very sharp pictures- up to 90 lines/mm on one test- this is close to some slr zoom lenses average resolution- excellent. when used as a snapshooter, people always say to me, wow, those are great pictures, what kind of camera did you use. here is where i must add in- why do people use digital cameras so much when the current 3 megapixel cannot produce a print indistinguishable from a wet chemistry 8x10? call me crazy, but film has an amazing ability to hold detail. i have been scanning film and -even- 4x6 prints into 7-8 megapixels with great success and producing excellent prints on a decent inkjet. these prints, with some manipulation and interpolation, are indistinguishable from wet chemistry prints- even with average processing. i have the proof and it is in film cameras. unless 7-8 megapixel cameras are common and inexpensive, you cannot make presentable prints from them at any reasonable size. that is where cameras like the olympus stylus epic come in- they produce images of very decent image quality which can be used traditionally and with today's digital technology to make excellent photographic endproducts. i have to admit, the quality of the prints made from film taken with the epic outclass any digital camera i have used and is more convenient to carry than my honking slr system- even though the slr is by far a better picture taker machine. when you have the ability to take shots, with gear decent enough to be able to produce very good to excellent image quality, you cannot complain. and the products are portable to digital technology. kudos to olympus for making excellent quality available to the masses who will never be able to fully appreciate how excellent design as an underlying principle transcends product usage, increases passion, fostering creativity and the idea that life is beautiful. Ja,ja,ja.... I took the same photo with the same film Fuji 400 ASA, with my Olympus and my Nikom FM2-Nikkor 18-35 3.5-4.5 (Excelent both)and then printed in 10*15 cm (in Agfa Prestige paper) and...who is who...it´s imposible with this size to look some difference. Strength:
Small, light wieght, fast lens for a point and shoot and very simple to operate
Weakness:
None for the what I wanted. I bought this little thing to supplement my SLR's. I previously had a Pentax IQ 120 which broke after about 3 years. The Pentax worked fine but I wanted a good camera that was as small as possible. The Olympus fits the bill. A zoom would be nice, but I wanted the small size and fast lens. Takes great pictures, and fits in any pocket very nicely. Customer Service none needed as of yet Similar Products Used: Canon SS115, Olympus Stylus 80, Pentax IQ 120 |

Strength:
Great clear and sharp images!!
Weakness:
Quite small thus a pretty small viewfinder. This camera kicks!! It's small and easy to use, the spot focus feature gives shots great depth of field and gives great results. It's compact enough yet I do wish the buttons on the back (you have to depress both for the spot feature) were larger. I've taken a few rolls with this camera (one with Fuji Superia 400-great film too!) and already I really like this camera! I have used my old(er) Yashica 5 Star for years now and it's served as a fantastic point and shoot (before they'd have called it a point and shoot)with many trips in America and Europe; many important vacation shots, project work as well as impromptu photography with awesome results. I wanted a camera similar to that one to keep black and white loaded in one camera and color in the other for vacations and projects. The Olympus Stylus Epic has already begun to prove itself to be a great camera and one I can use in combination with the other for consistancy of quality when shooting both black and white and color! I have had phenomenal results with enlargments and workablitiy of the images with the Yashica and can see this Olympus giving me similar and amazing results. With the f2.8 lens on the Epic (which I also have on the Yashica) it's a sure thing!! I highly recommend this camera for people who don't necessarily want/need to get into SLR's yet want to get great quality and wonderful photos!!
