Strength:

Rich color, contrasty, fine grain. Great for landscapes, nature, abstracts, naturally-lit home interiors.

Weakness:

None. Just watch for reciprocity failure (get the Fuji data guide to avoid it).

This is my favorite daylight slide film.

Strength:

Great saturation, sharpness, and grain structure

Weakness:

slow speed!

a really beautiful film as long as you don't have people in your images (lousy skin tone!). It's too slow but holds up well with push processing up to about 1 1/2 stops.

Strength:

Extremely fine grain, very sharp, great color saturation.

Weakness:

None

This is a great, but slow speed color reversal film, for landscapes. I usually shoot it at a setting of 40 versus manufacturer recommendation of 50. This gives me a slightly better color saturation and contrast; however, it makes it slower than it already is.
Only other slide film I shoot is Agfa RSX 100, and I do this when I need a faster film.

Strength:

sharp, reveals lots of detail, images "pop" off of the light box, saturated colors, blacks are very black, can produce images that look three-dimensional

Weakness:

very limited exposure latitude, too slow for most hand-held shots

A truly remarkable film that has literally created a new type of outdoor photography. Makes an amateur feel like a professional with such detailed and punchy images. Regrettably, the limited exposure latitude makes it risky to use as an everyday film. While difficult to work with, Velvia has enormous potential in the right hands. You've got to try it at least once.
