EF 28mm f/2.8
Strength:
Light, exceedingly sharp lens
Weakness:
Above comment re: manual focus ring is correct - somewhat undersized and narrow. This is an exceptionally good lens. I've never found the lack of ring USM to be a problem (I don't rely on fast autofocus to capture those pesky quick-moving landscapes). This lens can be easily had for around $100US used. EF 28mm f/2.8
Strength:
Images from this lens have been tack sharp. Stopped down performance is very good. It is small, lightweight, and doesn't take too much room in the camera bag.
Weakness:
Mechanically it is a bit outdated. The manual focus ring is narrow. Another one of those inexpensive, consumer-grade lenses that delivers outstanding images. There obviously better lenses out there, but this is a great alternative if you can't afford the faster lenses or the "L" series. Similar Products Used: None |

EF 28mm f/2.8
Strength:
ultra-sharp, inexpensive for what it offers, distortion low
Weakness:
None If you are looking for a not-that-expensive wide lens for your EOS camera, this is it. Don't go elsewhere. The 1.4/28 is slightly better, but far more expensive. This lens is one of the best wide lenses I have ever used. Customer Service not used yet Similar Products Used: None |
