    Strength:

    Wow, so many...
    -Great sharpness
    -Great price
    Just an excellent lens!

    Weakness:

The Auto focus doesnt work very well in low light... I tend to stay away from using the autofocus

Great Lens! Not really fond of the Auto focus because I usally always use it in low light (thats why i bought a f2.8!) For underwater use, i MUST use it in Manual Focus, and for most close up work as well. Great for portrits as well. Definatly my favorite lens in the bag!

    Strength:

Excellent manual focusing lense. Very sharp, balances well on my Canon A2

    Weakness:

Doesn't auto focus as well as Canon lenses. It's a bit noisy in auto focu is somewhat slow. However, I use it manually, and it's great for that.

I like this lense a lot. I tried the Canon 100mm Macro and it didn't manual focus as well. (Focusing ring was too loose.) The new Canon 100mm marco will accept a tripod collar which would be nice to have for macro work, but it's quite expensive. I am very satisfied with my Tamron both in price and performance.

    Strength:

    Sharp as Hubble Telescope :-)
    Seriously, it's very, very sharp.
The manual focus ring is smooth. I prefer manual focusing in macro than AF and this lens allow me do it easily.
1:1 magnification without any plus filter or lens.

    Weakness:

AF seems too slow to me
Focus ring moves in AF mode.

My favorite lens. 90mm is a great focal for portraits too.
Some of my best pictures where taked with this lens. Great aperture and great value for the money.

    Strength:

Very sharp centre to edge at all apertures except f32.
    Lightweight.
    Well priced.
    1:1 magnification.

    Weakness:

    Too soft at f32
Deeply recessed front element is difficult to clean.
Push/pull manual/auto focus ring changes every time I push the lens back into my camera bag.

Very sharp 1:1 macro lens. Especially good at f2.8, which is where I tens to use it most. It will do everything I want it to very well so I can't really fault it. Highly recommended.

    Strength:

    Amazing sharpness, contrast, color fidelity.
    Fast autofocus with Nikon F100
Recessed front element minimizes need for hood.
Despite cheap feel, appears to be well-constructed.

    Weakness:

    Plastic feel and appearance.
Included bayonet lens hood difficult to mount and unmount (fits very tightly)

As sharp as my Micro-Nikkor. Maybe a little TOO sharp for some portraits (must use soft-focus filter.)

    Strength:

SHARP!, very cheap considdering the lens quality, low in weight.

    Weakness:

plastic, not sure if it can take much rough handling, but in macro photography/portraits this is not really an issue. focussing is ok when using the limiter, but not great.

The best macro lens for the money, and I'm confident it can beat much more expensive lenses hands down. If macro photogrgaphy is what you want, this lens is all you need. Great for portraits too. deserves 10 stars!

    Extremely sharp
    Light
    Not expensive
    Smooth focusing

    Weakness:

    Plasticky
    Noisy and slow autofocus
    Af/Mf ring is not precise

Af/Mf ring died in about one week. Replaced lens is working well. Af is wery slow and noisy. Af/Mf ring is not precise. Despite Tamron´s excelent optical quality, I would recomend Canon´s 100mm macro USM, because of it´s USM and inner focusing.

    Customer Service

Good, they immediately replaced broken lens.

    Strength:

    Sharpness, 1:1 macro, price

    Weakness:

no USM, have to click the af/mf switch and push pull but no big deal. Tend to hunt a bit in low light condition and I believe thats why they have the focus limiter. The exterior and the feel when using this lens looks and feels cheap, but don't be fooled.

Deadly! extremely sharp. Im very happy with it, it opens up a whole new world in macro photography for me.

    Strength:

    Very, Very Sharp Lens
    Usable wide open at F/2.8
    1:1 Macro Ratio

    Weakness:

Plastic lens barrel is susceptable to cosmetic damage

This lens is the single most useful lens I own. It is razor sharp and can beat the optics of a Micro-Nikkor 105mm (see Practical Photography's macro lens comparison which proves this point). the lens is light and is great for portraiture. Due to the extreme focus range (infinity to about 3 inches) the autofocus isn't very useful at point blank range (which is true of every macro lens I have used). This lens is worth every penny spent. Anybody wanting a lens for macro work, product photography, portraiture, should seriously consider this lens.
