Strength:

Sharp, very sharp. Fast AF. Good color.

Weakness:

no

Result of the photos gave me a stunning surprise. Extremely sharp, good contrast, good color rendition and color saturation. Pro quality lens as another reviews said that you''ll stick to ''L'' lens once you get one. Every CANON user should have this. Save your money, buy it and you won''t regret.

Strength:

- Sharpness on all focal - Excellent definition from center to border. - USM Pro - Apperture f:2.8 - Amazing color saturation and contrast (WYSIWYG) - Absence of distortion and light falloff - Perfect match to complete my EF 80-200mm 2.8L -

Weakness:

- Price - Finish

I was tired to switch between prime lens such as a EF 50mm 1.8 and a EF 28mm 2.8 not practical in travel or on a report. I want something who can give me the same quality, even, better than prime lens and I chose that one even if the price was incrediblebly expensive. This is the better 28-70 2.8 never made.

Strength:

Not the last word in optical excellence as compared to the best primes available, but not far off, and superlative for a zoom lens, focusing, balance (heavy but assured), fast for a zoom, great colour.

Weakness:

Heavy, big, expensive, large filter size.

A great lens - the best zoom lens I have yet used. Prime quality, albeit in a bulky and somewhat heavy package. Fast, reliable and decisive AF, coupled to FTM USM makes focusing easy and handling satisfying. Optically no significant compromise over a 28, 50 and 85/1.8 lens ''suite''. Not quite up to Contax G 28, 45 or 90 standards, but then little is. Still a wonderful lens worthy of five stars for simply being ''the zoom that gives pro-prime quality''.

This lens is simply excellent. Built quality is top notch and optical quality is the best you can expect. This is my "normal" lens since years.

Strength:

Sharp, sharp, sharp with fast, fast, fast autofocus.

Weakness:

Heavy, expensive cumbersome to carry on a vacation.

This is one of my favorite lens. I bought it used and it still cost a fortune but, it is perfect for a serious photographer. Other than the price and the weight, nothing in this zoom range for Canon beats this lens. It is worth every penny if you don't mortgage anything else.

Customer Service

This is a wonderful lens for reportage wedding photography. The lens is fabulously sharp wide open, and across the full range of the zoom. The price is not too bad considering the package you are getting. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Strength:

Tack sharp - equivalent to 28mm, 35mm, 50mm primes!!!

AF is extremely fast due to USM technology

Worth every penny and every ounce.

Weakness:

NONE; Weight is NOT an issue. That's what a professional lens is all about. If you want a sharp, contrast, and fast professional lens, this is what you have to accept.

This is an excellent lens. I think it's worth every penny. Yes, there are third party lenses out there that can perform almost as good but I don't want to deal with compatibility issue later on when I want to upgrade my camera.

fast, sharp, if not tack sharp. very quiet focusing

Weakness:

bulky, heavy, not easy to focus at wide angles.

if you really need a fast 2.8 lens, this is the choice. but if not, 28-105 lens will do a similar performance at a fraction of cost.
