Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM 35mm Zoom

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM 35mm Zoom

DESCRIPTION

Incorporating Canon’s second generation Image Stabilization technology, this telephoto zoom responds in as little at 0.5 seconds, while providing up to three stops of correction for camera shake. Its AF system has been refined for better response time and tracking speed. And even the new 8-blade circular aperture offers a more pleasing out-of-focus image. Constructed to pro standards, this fast zoom is also highly resistant to dust and moisture, too.

Strength:

Quality of build. Top optics

Weakness:

Weight is the only problem.

Superb optics and build quality. Fast focus and IS allows very low shutter speed in low light situations with rare evidence of camera shake.

Strength:

SHARP Image stabilizer Build Quality, almost waterproof (in the rain) fast focusing panning IS and IS shut off automatically when you use tripod. and again SHARP SHARP SHARP

Weakness:

Too loud grab too much attention, a little heavy when you have to carry this whole day.

This is my first 70-200 lens I never bought tele-zoom as I've been waiting for canon to produce the IS version, I was very happy when I got my 28-135 IS 2 years ago and I was hoping they will produce one and yes finally it was available and when I check the price my heart nearly stopped! it was really expensive and took me 6 months to save enuff to finally bought one few weeks ago. I tested shots in films and digital it is really really sharp, but might pose problems when I start using this lens to shoot potrait for models as skin flaws will be too obvious. But I don't care its really impressive. Its SHARP, and I can shoot at 200mm at 1/30 easily. Like others had mention you start using this lens you'll forget the hole it puts in your pocket.

Strength:

Build Quality is fantastic. Outstanding sharpness at all f-stops

Weakness:

It's heavy and can be a pain in the ass if you carry it all day. It's also a real attention grabber when you might want to remain incognito. Be aware of your surroundings when using this lens.

This undoubtedly has to be one of the best quality lenses I have ever owned in my 40 years of shooting. The "IS" is amazing. I have had keepers as low as 1/8 of a second handheld.

Strength:

Tack Sharp at all apertures Good color reproduction great range

Weakness:

Heavy pricey but worth it

This has to be the sharpest canon zoom lens I have ever used. I have recently compared it to the canon 135/2L and 200/2.8L prime lenses at f2.8 and 8. The primes had minimally better color contrast but the sharpness and color reproductions were almost identical. Moreover, this lens is sharp from corner to corner with little difference between f2.8 and 8. The IS lets you hand hold at lower shutter speeds and the f2.8 allows one to blur the background in many shooting situations. THis lens is great for kids sports, theatre shooting, and everyday events

Strength:

Most important- it makes great photos! Build quality is what it should be at this price. Fast autofocus Will generate work for you! It's an attractive lense to boot

Weakness:

I'm trying to be as objective aad unbiased as I can, but I really have not found any thus far.

A REAL JOY! This is my first "L" lense and after getting great photos every time, I'm spoiled. I enjoy portaiture and this lense is great for isolating subjects with its 2.8 aperture. Skin tones are rendered accurately, great contrast with colorful group pictures. Have taken beautiful sunset picutres on the Mississippi river here in Memphis with the Hernanado Desoto Bridge as a lighted backdrop. Fits nicley on an EOS 1V. I really have not used the IS feature all that much, but confident should I ever need get in a jam, it will perform as it should. Go get you one!

Strength:

Very well built - to be expected from a 'white' lens handles nicely Stabilizer is perfect

Weakness:

cost

This lens only arrived yesterday from a seller in NY on Ebay. I have always been aprehensive of low zoom ratio zooms this is less than 3:1 however after using this on some test shots I was completely amazed at the focus speed and stabilizers effectiveness. I can easily hand hold 200mm at 1/30 with no obvious sign of shake. I think Canon has got this one spot on optically! Also because it start at f2.8 - its easy to 1.4 and 2.0 convertors on it!

I would like to thank everyone here. .I must have read over 100 reviews and threads on this lens. Without your input I would have never bought a NEW lens with a comma in the price. have only put 2 rolls through it. but I was totally pleased with results. This lens replaces a lot of lens's. The IS works great! While my EF 200mm f/2.8L. Is a little sharper. The 70-200 L IS is so versatile. I wonder how I would ever get along without it. Add in the 1.4 tele converter. And you are covering most of lens's you will ever need. I am only keeping my wide angle, 50mm, 28mm and 100mm macro lens. Selling the rest. So the cost of this lens is really not that bad. When you consider all the lens you do not need to have or buy. I only see one problem with this lens. The lens is so sharp & The IS works so good.(I have not been impressed by the previous Generation of IS lens) A average consumer could get professional results with relative ease. If the future Canon lens all have this feature (in it's next generation). We could all be out of a job!

I''m about 5''10" 240lbs (Beefy, so not much of a problem for me. Planning on getting the 1.4 converter. Glad I went with the IS. Worth the bucks. Get it.............

Strength:

Sharp. Fast focusing. IS

Weakness:

It''s heavy, but what the heck. Price (you get what you pay for).

The nirvana. Sharp. Incredebly sharp. Fast focusing. IS is the greatest invention after the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and The Who. Focusing and IS work great with 1.4X and 2X extenders, though focusing tend to chase a bit more with the 2X.
