Strength:
Great range, bright viewfinder image, metal mount
Weakness:
some resistance in zoom ring, autofocus tends to hunt a lot The best of the 'budget' telephoto zooms. For those of us at whatever skill level that can't afford $1000 plus for a lens. Customer Service Bought from Camerworld.com at a good price and great service Similar Products Used: canon 80-200 |

OK if you are using f8 or smaller up to about 200mm. Light weight.
Weakness:
Cheap build quality, contrast and sharpness are not good after 200mm, flare control is not good, erratic focusing This lens is strictly for amateur and casual photography. I shoot primarily landscapes from a tripod and use a cable release with my Canon A2E. The performance really drops off after 200mm or so. I wish I had popped for the extra $$ and bought a used L-lens rather than getting substandard images with this lens. The 200-300mm range is useless for all but "snapshot" quality pics. On the bright side, it doesn't cost alot (used), and actually gives OK performance if stopped down and you don't go much past 200mm. If I had to do it all over again, I can't say that I'd buy this lens- especially at retail $$. As an entry level lens, you'd do well to buy second hand- at least you'd get a good chunk of your money back if you don't like it. Customer Service didn't need any. I assume this probably a lens you'd throw away if there was something wrong with it. You can buy used for about $150 Similar Products Used: none (but have a 70-200L that will be here any day :-) |

Strength:
A very light lens. Quiet focusing. A good value for beginners.
Weakness:
A little "cheap" feeling from plastic construction. Practically useless in low-light situations. As one reviewer has said, this is a decent lens for beginning photographers, as it is relatively inexpensive and does give a wide range of focal lengths. However, once the sun goes down or the photographer steps indoors, the small maximum aperture really hurts. Useful for slow outdoor sports like baseball, much less so for faster-moving sports like soccer or indoor sports like hockey. If you're a beginner on a budget, this lens might be one for you, but think about the type of pictures you'll be taking first. Customer Service None needed. Similar Products Used: None. |

Wide range cover with it and very sharp picture produce from 75-200mm
Weakness:
Soft image produce from 200mm onwards and not that fast (don't notice any different between it and the type III) If I can decide to spend my money on this range again I will just buy a type III instead of this one. Customer Service No need Similar Products Used: Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Type III |

It is a great lens for the beginner that doesn't want to spend big bucks for a 300mm. It has served me well and is all that I need.I have yet to need a faster lens for my bird and deer pictures.
Weakness:
When zoomed to 300mm the barrel is a little loose. Great lens for the beginner. Given the option again I would get the same lens! I have done many BW enlargments with it and they are very acceptable picutes. Considering the step up to the 300 f/4 would be about $1000 difference I think it is a fine lens. Definately not for the pro but perfect for the beginer intermediate. I have no regrets about it what so ever! Good buy! Customer Service Never called Similar Products Used: Canon 35-80mm |

Auto focus is the slowest amoung my lens. Well the USM 75-300mm maybe a better buy. Customer Service Haven't needed for Canon lens so far. Similar Products Used: Canon 22-55mm, 35-135mm. |

Not tight sharp after 8x10, This lens would be great if you enjoy travel photography. It offers great convinence when you "walk" a long distance.
