To be truthful, I only used this lens once. I purchased it for my youngest son to use on his N50. It is very ratchety when zooming.
However, I will say that on an N50 it take very good pictures. Nothing that I would try and sell. Sharpness is ok, even from edge-to-edge.
Good all around lens for a beginner with it mounted to a N50, N60 or even N70.
However, if you have the money move up to the 35-70 lens. Smoother operation and better sharpness. Also, less flaring, so I presume it has better multi-coating than the 35-80.
