You may want to consider the Nikon S8100 also. It has a 10x lens (30-300mm equivalent) and better continuous shooting – 5 fps at full resolution with pre-cache function. The Nikon uses a second generation CMOS sensor – not sure about the Canon’s. Video may not be as good on the Nikon from what I’ve read. Video on the SD4500 IS looks pretty good. Thanks for the unboxing. Looking forward to a full review.

Thanks for the comment, John. The Nikon S8100 sounds good and it has been quite a while since I used a Nikon point-and-shoot camera. Another camera I’m really interested in is the Sony DSC-HX5V. It also has a CMOS sensor and a 10x zoom lens. I’ve been so impressed with the Sony TX5 wateproof camera (read my review here) that I’d really like to try what looks like its pocket superzoom stepup camera.
