Strength:

Solid, weather resistant body. Part of an outstanding system.

Weakness:

weight is often mentioned, but why are these people handholding??? Use a mono-pod or tripod and you will be surprised at the sharper results, and you won''t feel the weight.

These forums appear to be the battleground for the Nikon-vs-Canon reviewers. Let me add this to the fray. Go to a MAJOR sporting event (one where the REAL pros are) and you will see nothing short of a sea of large white lenses all attached to Canon EOS 1n''s and v''s. This is a fact, not open for debate. Anyone giving this camera a rating below 4 stars should be assigned to read at least one book on photography (probably their first). Come on folks, Minolta, Nikon, Contax etc., they all make great stuff. Pick a system and learn to use it. If you get bad results (and you know what your doing) send the camera back for repair. A top of the line body and accompanying lens from any major camera company will give very good results if everything is in working order. Some of course will be better than others under certain conditions. Do your homework by knowing what features to look for and not depend upon some equipment junkies review. This 1v is a great camera which is part of a great system. So is the Nikon F5 and F100 (although it should be N100, doesen''t have ''F'' standard features). Whenever you pay close to or more than a grand for a camera body, the d*** thing better be good. The key is, EDUCATE YOURSELF. Spend more time reading about photographic techniques and less about nit-picky camera reviews and you will get top notch results from any system. I chose Canon because their super telephotos (500-600mm) blow the competition out of the water. If I made my living outside of this arena, then Nikon or one of the others would probably do the job.

Strength:

Ergonomics - It really fits and feels perfect in your hands. Weatherproof - Allows you to get out and get the shot! Dependable and Reliable - The CANON name says it all. All Metal Body - Built for professional use and abuse. Definite SEX Appeal !

Weakness:

Absolutely, the best SLR camera body available today ! I purchased the EOS-1v new along with some new "L" glass. I have never regretted this decision. You must read the owner''s manual cover to cover. Once you do that, this camera is so easy to operate. I simply love everything about this camera. It is the last camera body that I will purchase in my lifetime !

Strength:

A lot of people like to talk about its speed, and I agree. I''d also like to add that it''s comfortable to hold, and it''s proven VERY waterproof, because I intentionally took it out in the rain several times. Living in Taiwan, we got a lot of typhoons this year. With this sealed camera, I got some awesome shots in the storm.

Weakness:

Many people say it''s heavy. I don''t think so. Maybe I''m used to lifting heavy things, this camera feels just right. I prefer it in its current fortitude over some of the lighter cameras, which feel unstable.

Terrific camera that has outworked me thus far. Whatever I could think of, it was able to do and do beyond my expectations. Tons of functions allowed me to tweak the camera to my liking. I can use it without looking at the dials and buttons; everything feels where it should be.

Strength:

Absolutely the best 35mm professional camera ever built. You name it, this camera can do it. Built like a Sherman tank, and weighs as much :(
Sealed against rain, sand and dirt. Absolutely reliable metering even in extremely difficult backlit conditions. Blazing fast AF, even with slow lenses. Absolutely accurate focus tracking. Very ergonomic and good to hold.

Weakness:

A bit heavy with the booster, flash and a 35-350 lens. I think I have to start pumping iron.

This is probably the finest body ever built. It has withstood tremendous abuse in the cold, rain, snow, heat and dirt, and has performed flawlessly each and every single time. This is one camera I would 100% recommend and use any time.

Built like a tank, designed to take hard core abuse, rain, dirt, sand, etc. Perfect metering. Blazing fast AF and terrific focus tracking. Handles like a dream. Very ergonomic design and fits very well in the hand.

Weakness:

No ECF. A bit heavy with the power drive booster.

This is probably the best 35mm pro level SLR ever made. Perfect in every respect. I just picked up my second 1V yesterday. This baby will probably last your lifetime.

This is one of the best camera ever made. A very bright 100% veiwfinder. It is a very tough camera with a solid feel. The camera feel very comfort in my hand. The exposure systme is excellent and very accurate. The autofocus is very fast

Weakness:

May be a little heavy for some people. Wish they had put ECF on the camera, but you can't have everything.

I notice the one main complain with the camera is the price. Get over it , you pay for what you get. I know a lot more pricey camera out there that does a hell of a lot less. The bottom line is this is a pro camera and is build and price that way. It is a excellent working tool

Customer Service

Strength:

It is the best EOS ever made. Still not the perfect EOS yet but I can live with the minor problems associated with the 1v.

Weakness:

AF reaction a bit slow in One Shot AF mode on slow and non-moving subjects when all its 45-point is set as compared to the EOS-3 (45) or the EOS-1N having all 5-point active. However, when it comes to focus tracking fast moving subjects, the EOS-1v wins hands down over the other two EOS models.

It may be the best EOS ever but it is not a camera for everyone, especially to those who knows next-to-nothing about photography or how to use modern pushbutton models like the EOS series effectively. If you don't know much, stay clear from investing in the EOS-1v. Also, if one does not shoot sports on a weekly or daily basis, there is no need to invest in the NC Charger E2 and Ni-MH Pack NP-E2 that allows the EOS-1v its 10/9 fps feature as the eight AA-size batteries are more than enough for the average user.

Customer Service

Not needed but if there is any problem with my EOS cameras, the professional service at Canon Malaysia is excellent.
