Strength:

Fast AF, relaible Matrix metering, excellent TTL flash metering, strong and becoming a real bargain

Weakness:

Handling has become even better with MB 10

Excellent, reliable workhorse for amateur and professional, with maybe not the most up to date, but still very capable capacities, especially AF and lightmetering. Thoug I got a F100 and now use my originaal F90X as a back up, I got a second nearly new mint F90x for about US $400 as prices really have dropped after the F5 and in particular the F100 hit the market.

Customer Service

Excellent. Calibrated light meter to synchronize with other camera's for free

Strength:

Great camera. Light weight, fast and accurate. Nikon has every thing you need to put together a great system

Weakness:

After going through a hurricane and getting soaked the batteries die in a bout a week, as opposed to about a month before the storm. Other than that no problems.

It's a great camera, but for serious photojournalism I dont think its the best body. If you plan on keeping it dry and not banging it around too much it will be fine. Get the MB 10 grip. And buy a lot of batteries.

Haven't gotten around to sending it in yet

Strength:

Very reliable camera in all aspects. When coupled with the MB-10, the camera has a great feel, i.e., solid, but not bulky.

Weakness:

Rubber on back peels off with extensive use. Would like to have mirror lock up option.

The N90s is a great all-around camera for amateurs and pros alike. It's autofocus speed and matrix metering performance is outstanding, as well as its reliability.

Customer Service

Haven't had to use it.

Strength:

This is a joy to use. Interface is easy to master. Flash is easy and accurate. Metering is dead on accurate. The ergonomics are very good especially with the MB-10 grip. It is sturdy (contrary to the opinions of the metal body freaks) and has withstood heavy usage. It had an electronics problem but this did not diminish my love of this camera.

Weakness:

Had to replace an electrical chip that supplies the information to the viewfinder. This was certainly not typical and my repairman said he had seen only two others have this problem. It was out of warranty and the cost was $240.00 but I have another N90 that has been ticking faithfully for years so I am inclined to think that this is an anomaly.

Excellent camera. I need nothing more than this camera offers. A F-5 would be nice as would a F-100 but this is my favorite camera.

Customer Service

Nikon authorized service was excellent. Slow but excellent.

Strength:

Great camera. Easy to use. I've had it for over 5 years. I have almost never had a bad photo due to camera error. My wife was intimidated by it for about 4 years as she has only used "Point & Shoot" cameras. She has taken it over as her favorite "P&S" as it fuctions flawlessly and the photos with Nikon lenses are of much higher quality than w/ a P&S. I've shot over 500 rolls of film with it - no problems.

Weakness:

Motor noise seems loud compared to Canon cameras.

I'm a little tired of all the "competitor bashing" I've been seeing. I saw an earlier review by someone that used mostly Canons. He ranked this camera as 1 out of 5. What a joke. I think Canon and Nikon both make some great products. Both make some less than perfect products, but most at least deserve a "fair" evaluation. You won't see me going to the EOS 3 evaluation and marking the camera as a "1" just because I don't like it's polycarbonite shell or I think some other camera is better...

Strength:

The camera is easy to use.

Weakness:

I have not had any problems with this camera.

The N90s camera is a fast focusing camera and offers a whole array of options. Stored setups for any option the photographer may need to use. Easy operation and easy to read LED display. So far this camera has out performed my Nikon F4s.

Strength:

the exposure meters are quite reliable and i can use any priority i choose. the compatable lenses are excellent.

Weakness:

the pre-programmed settings are a waste for me as i have never used them. also, the body is heavy so travelling with it is burdensome. (also doesn't handle fruit punch well)

this is a great versatile camera for the intermediate and not-quite-pro photographer. i have used it for weddings, sports, portraits and equine photography and have had great success. i can use the manual or i can be lazy and have the camera do everything for me.

Customer Service

i haven't had to call for service for the body, however i did try to get the nikon photosecretary for it. it took more than 3 months on back order, so i just cancelled my order.

Strength:

Handles well, fast AF w/ Nikon lenses, 3 different metering modes, fast motor drive(4.1 fps).

Weakness:

The autofocus lock and auto exposure lock are not easy to use. Only 2 AF areas available, and only in the center. I had to buy the mf-26 to have auto-bracketing. Louder and heavier than similar Canon products.

With the release of the F100, the N90s is becoming a great value. If camera noise is factor this model is not for you. I have no regrets for purchasing this model.

Customer Service

No problems

Strength:

TTL flash metering; some very good lenses at reasonable prices; uses AA batteries

Weakness:

Film advance motor died on the first roll of film!! Matrix metering not all that relaible; poor ergonomics; painfully slow autofocus with most lenses; annoying habit of "hunting" to find focus; high speed flash synch not TTL; lack of mirror lockup makes sharp pictures very difficult at 1/8 to 1/30 sec.

A sturdy camera with excllent flash metering, hampered by lack of features, poor autofocus, poor reliability, and poor service.

Customer Service

Absolutely pathetic. How can a company stay in business with service this bad?
