Strength:
This Canon is really great for beginning photographers who want to start out with full auto control and eventually move into full manual control.
Weakness:
The viewfinder screens for "p" and "h" are impossible to see when it is night time. Also the cost for film and devoloping is more than double that of 35mm format film. A great camera for daytime shooting, not for night time photography. Inexpensive when I got it( I bought it with a Quantaray 28-80 f4/5.6). I would recommend another camera if you do alot of night time shooting. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Compact, durable, not too heavy, nice ergonomic design, compatible with all EOS lens, points down when hanging on the shoulder strap, long battery life.
Weakness:
Masking for three different formats is hard to see (especially at night). The Quantaray 28-80mm lens I got with the camera isn't that great (go with Canon lens). Recommend Canon 380EX flash with this camera especially for indoor pictures. Unfortunately product is discontinued, so there may be a limited supply. Best step up from a point and shoot camera since this camera offers more versatility in different shooting conditions since you can use the Canon lenses with it. I opted for this camera instead of a digital one, since the resolution of this camera can't be touched by digital. I'll get either an APS scanner or use the one I have now to convert my pictures for the computer. Customer Service Haven't needed Similar Products Used: Pentax IQ Zoom 90WR, Pentax IQ Zoom 160 |

Strength:
Mid-roll changing, focusing, size and durability.
Weakness:
none.... Perfect all around camera, especially for travel in such places like Egypt where you will be in a wide range of lighting conditions, such as bright desert and darker temples and tombs....I love the mid-roll change capability for this reason alone(my photos with this camera are on my site: www.geocities.com/krl5.geo)....a very highly reccommended camera with plenty of lense choices. Strength:
-metal body
Weakness:
-no VG This is a great camera. The price is very easy on the wallet, and youcan be sure that it'll last for a long time because of its metal construction. If this is your first SLR you get to buy into one of the best lens systems i nthe world (the only one with IS technology) and if you're already an EOS user this lets you check out the APS format , which is nice to store and keep track of your pictures and your camera settings with each print Customer Service never needed Similar Products Used: nno APS SLR's |

All that good looks and some brain too. Very easy to use. Just set it to full auto mode and off you go. But if you want to get creative, then set it to one of the creative zones. Being able to use the same lenses for the other Canon 35mm cameras is a big plus.
Weakness:
Indoor pictures appear grainy. Some outdoor pictures appear grainy too. As far as I'm concerned, the jury is still out on APS films. A very good camera. I got it for Christmas last year so the value rating is a 5. I'd recommend using slower film to improve on the image quality. Customer Service Good customer service. I had a problem with film loading while in Hawaii - I got it fixed for free. Similar Products Used: Canon AE1 |

Strength:
Mysecond review for this camera, better than the first one I posted(I promise). Its strengths are that it is well balanced, well thought out controls that fall right under your fingers, long line of accessories and lenses, compact size. It also seems durable. Good AF sensor placement.
Weakness:
No longer can it be considered lightweight(but this helps balance). The finish on black areas will lose its shine after about 6 months( but then again I have shot almost 300 pictures) Uses trashy APS system. Masks for P and H hard, if not impossible to see in low light. Eyecup intrudes into already small horizontal image area. I love this cameras features, except for the use of APS format. I never use the Wide format (H) so I just should of gotten a 35mm with panoramic. A great buy now if you can find one, more features than its sucessor, the EOS IX. If you are looking for a good travel camera that handles well this is it, or a Pentax 35mm. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Very fast focus
Weakness:
Difficulty getting date backprinting This camera makes beautiful photos where others would not expose in time. Photographing candids of my daughter I often missed the shot altogether with my Maxxim. I now carry my SLR when I would have left the Maxxim behind. It is little heavier than a point & shoot. Similar Products Used: Maxxum 7000 |

Strength:
Easy to use in programme mode if you are feeling lazy or in "Creative mode" if you want more control.
Weakness:
Haven't encounter any. APS took a hard knock after bad experience with a Nikon 600i and the terrible customer service. Decided to bite the bullet again with the EOS IX as I already used EOS 35mm equipment. All my concerns were thrown away. Great little camera for any situation and I often use it with 24-85mm lense and lug my EOS 5 with a higher zoom or fixed lense. Customer Service Standard clean-up service only took one day and they even polished a scratch out of the body at no charge! Couldn't be better. Top shutter speed 1/4000 of a second, Three metering modes, logical controls, Accurate metering, Fast flash sync (1/200), high speed flash sync, now cheap
Weakness:
No custom functions, Outer two AF sensors are slow, Using Auto Exposure lock button to engage partial metering (why did Canon do this I ask?), NO top side LCD panel (it is on back of the camera) If your are used to using a camera such as the Canon ELAN II but want a smaller camera for travel, buy it. If you are used to using a point-and-shoot but want a better camera, you may be suprised at its weight (15.5 oz ain't bad over an Elan II but to a point and shoot it is high) I love it but need a 35mm for better film and the price of developing (APS =3X higher than 35mm!) Strength:
Able to change out rolls in the middle of a shoot and switch from B&W-100-200 etc. You can load the half-shot rolls back in later and the camera advances the film to the next unexposed frame. Compatable with all EOS equipment. Metal lens mount. All the custom features you need. High top-end shutter speed. Good balance. Durable(took it snowboarding). Meters very well in tough situations. Focuses fast(espesially with USM lenses). I have gotten great results from the APS film. Use only Canon Lenses.
Weakness:
The P and H mode are useless. Can't shoot slides. It is a great camera! APS takes a bad rap it does not deserve all the time. A great deal for the money. Customer Service Go to Ritz! Similar Products Used: Canon Elan 7E, Nikon N80, Minolta Xt-Si. |
