Strength:

I was shopping for a more advanced APS SLR, and my intention was to buy the Canon, as I already had 2 Canon 35mm cameras and several lenses. But when I came across this camera at Ritz and saw all the features it had at such a low price, I snatched it up. Now they're almost impossible to find. This camera is very solid, feels very comfortable, is easy to use, and takes great pictures. I've even used is at a couple weddings to take panoramic shots of the wedding party, and they were a big hit. As a long-time Canon user, I'm now looking to buy a Nikon N70 to add to my collection

Weakness:

None.

Despite alot of criticism regarding the quality of APS prints, I've found them to be comparable to 35mm in the 4x6 size, and almost as good in 5x7 and 8x10. Although this camera will never replace my 35mm cameras, it's a good back-up, and perfect for family and friend get-togethers. If you can find this camera anywhere, especially at the price for which Ritz was selling it, I would strongly recommend buying it.

For $199.99 (at ritzcamera, body only), this camera has got all the functions you will probably ever need as an amateur.Trying to get the same functions on other cameras can make your pockets run dry.The camera is not bulky as it may seem at first and as long as you get your film developed by authorised APS developers, your 35mm will gather dust in some dark corner of your house.

Weakness:

If you got the IX Nikkor AF lens , the built in flash gets blocked sometimes by the lens. The viewfinder is a BIG pain and I think they should have made it as it is in the Pronea S.Otherwise the Pronea 6i is fine.

Tons of functions , easy to handle and lots of fun. For those of you looking for an affordable APS SLR camera , this is the best bargain. So visit ritzcamera and get your piece before this runs out.

Strength:

The Pronea 6i is a full-featured APS SLR with the ability to use all AF-Nikkor lenses. The auto focus system with Lock-On focus tracking and the 3D Matrix Metering system beat the pants off of my 35mm Canon EOS 10s even when using an ultrasonic lens. Basic mode lets you take good pictures while the advanced mode lets you make photographs.

Weakness:

My biggest disappointment is the lack of 3D multi-sensor balanced fill-flash. Don’t get me wrong, the built-in Matrix balanced flash is great, but it would’ve been so much better had Nikon included the 3D multi-sensor balanced fill-flash like that of the N70. Some sort of viewfinder masking would have been useful to be able to notice what print size is selected but the indicator arrows don’t bother me.

I fell in love with the Pronea 6i when it first hit the market but the steep price and the fact I was already using Canon 35mm EOS equipment kept me from buying it then. However, when I saw RITZ Camera offer the Pronea 6i body WITH the 24-70mm IX-Nikkor for only $299, I leaped at the chance to own one. I can’t wait to expand my Nikon system! I only wish Kodak and Fuji would decide to import their APS slide film offered to our fellow photographers across the pond. As for those of you complaining there are no faster APS films, try exposing ISO 400 film at EI 800 and stop your whining!

Has all you need, including spot metering, 3.5 frms/sec, lightweight, illuminated huge display, etc. Function-wise it's the N70 in APS format.

Weakness:

APS-format, no fast films, max. 400 iso.
Expensive batteries.
Actual picture format is only displayed by some dots and small red arrows, I leave it always on the HDTV format.

Very good camera, at Ritzcamera for less than $200. You can add the special IX lenses (my reviews under lenses) and get the whole set insluding 20-60mm and 60-180mm for $425!!!
That's an offer you should not miss. Also for people who do not want to buy any other equipment, this camera together with these lenses is all you will need (except flash, filters and batteries,...). For Nikon users - this is an excellent travel body without cuts on functions.
Definitely suggest to buy this one instead of the Pronea S which is an advanced Point and Shoot only. The Pronea 6i will grow with your experience.

Solid SLR camera at the right size and weight. APS mid-roll change. Incrediable discounts right now make it a steal.

Weakness:

Red-eye reduction should have been included in basic mode.

This camera never caught on in the beginning, now they are heavly discounted (last seen $199 body only). Using this camera for a few months makes me ask why didn't it catch on? It has a solid feel, but light and easy to grasp. The APS format requires only a small hatch to load film so the entire back of the camera is filled with an impressive and easy to read LCD display. Thumb and index finger wheels allow quick menu option changes as well as apeture and shutter settings (depending on mode). Basic mode is fool proof, but could have benifited from the red-eye function. The camera supports mid-roll change, which is a great feature. A powerful built-in speedlight flash tops it off.

If you want a wonderful camera that compairs feature for feature to the N70 (except for two auto program modes), can tollorate APS, and don't want to break the bank then this is the camera for you.

APS camera with SLR capabilities. Easy to use features, many of which are from the Nikon N70. Good metering system. Fast autofocus. Very good picture quality. Good build quality. Compatible with Nikon lenses. Basic setting turns this into a sophisticated but fast point and shoot. The film drive is quiet. Powerful enough built in flash (GN 66 ISO 200) for most people type flash pics. High enough flash sync of 1/180. Red eye reduxn. Easy to change f-stop without having to mess with aperture ring on Nikon Nikkor AF lenses. All the features you need to be creative. Fast enough 3.5 fps.

Weakness:

None. My only complaint is that you can easily miss the red arrows that denote the boundaries of your print format IF you get too excited in the rush to take the picture Maybe Nikon can have the dashed lines that denote this to change color from black to green or something.

Excellent APS camera to supplement your 35mm system or; for those who are willing to abandon 35mm, this camera can replace your 35mm SLR. APS with Nikon quality lenses is a hard to beat combination. Impressed with picture quality, equal to 35mm 4x6 print. Haven't enlarged prints beyond that to compare to 35mm prints. Good metal F mount for your lenses, not plastic like on the Pronea S. It's good that Nikon added a hot shoe; this is what they should've done with the Pronea S. Information LCD on the back is easy to read, in daylight and dark. If you can still find this camera with a lens for $299, I highly recommend it. I wish there were more APS film stock offered. With all the other film formats (e.g. 110, film disc) they tried, I think they finally did it right with APS. Of course I will still keep my 35mm system.

The Pronea 6i works like a high-quality Nikon SLR in Advanced mode, yet allows a novice to produce satisfying photos in Basic mode. My first test shots delivered true colors, excellent AF performance, great versatility and variety in printed output that would have taken me more hours or more dollars with any other format.

Weakness:

Beware of non-Certified APS photofinishers offering their services. Recommend Costco or other certified processing center.

I bought this camera because of it's features. I'll keep this camera because of it's flexibility and fitness as an all-around family camera. Let's face it, most of the photos we take end up in boxes and drawers. In one hour, I captured 5 or 6 pictures out of 24 exposures that I'd consider displaying in my home. That's pretty good in any photographer's book.

Customer Service

Nikon customer service is A+. I haven't needed to call on them for the Pronea, but I suspect they'd perform as they have in the past.

This is real Nikon SLR. It has the bulk of the functions found in a high-end 35mm SLR, with the high-demand consumer advantages of APS. I was about to buy my ten year-old son a new APS camera for Christmas, and came upon this great deal at Ritz Camera. It is fully compaitble with all of my existing Lenses and other Nikon accessories. The price is fantastic, and it's a Nikon!

Weakness:

Came our of the box without any problems.

If you are considering an APS camera, and are used to 35mm SLRs (specially Nikons), this deal is unmatched. I don't understand why the price is so competitive, but why not take advantage of real value deal.
