Strength:

Incredible DOF
Very sharp even wide open
Good flare control

Weakness:

None according to me.

This little lens is a gem. It shows very little distortion and is very sharp and contrasty at all the apertures and the CRC mechanism is excellent for taking close distance pictures. It is much better than 20mm in respect of controlling distortions and way better than 28 mm prime in respect of sharpness. A truly wonderful lens.!!

Strength:

Very sharp and contrasty

Weakness:

flares a little bit much

Most distortion I have seen with this lens is from perspective effects inherent in wide angle design like this one. My first super-wide angle lens, and a great one.

Strength:

-Sharpness
-Incredible depth of field
-Versatility

Weakness:

-Needs hood virtually all the time
-N80 speedlight only good to 28mm, so you lose some fill flash at edges.

Bought this after reading reviews on this site. Must say that I agree wholeheartedly with what's already been said. As a "newby" to the field of photography, I think this is one lens I'll never outgrow, and will use frequently. An outstanding lens to learn the art of wide-angle photography.

Strength:

Very compact, solid and light. Sharpness from f 5.6 on is simply stunning, so is contrast overall. Colors are beautiful, neutral. Manual focusing ring is well-damped, aperture ring is the same. Very little flare, very little field curvature, very very little distortion, good for buildings, horizon lines and so on.

Weakness:

I really can't find one. Surely AI version has a better feel when focusing manually. Nothing else.

A wonderful lens, I really can't find a better one for quality & cheapness in Nikon wideangle range. Complete with 35 AFD f/2, 50 AFD f/1.4 and 85 AFD f/1.8 (or 80-200 AFD f/2.8 N), and you have the 35mm perfect range for travel, landscape & people photography.

god, it's just a sharp little lense, what else needs to be said? it's small light, has a nice 52mm filter thats very common to find filters for. it fits nicely on just about any nikon out there from the f5 to the n60. the lense just feels really solid.

Weakness:

I hear thi lense is prone to flair. but I made it a standard thing to use flair hoods every second I use a lense, not just thise but any lense, I have never experienced flair with this lense though.

this is probably the finest wide angle I use or have encounterd so far. I use wide angles for just about all my action shots. this one never lets me down.

Strength:

Sharpest lens I have. Close-range-correction (CRC) for sharp close-ups. Very small and light. Very fast AF

Weakness:

flares badly in the sun, use the hood. Some loss off sharpness at the very far edges

This is the sharpest lens I have. Increadible debth of field. Very little distortion. Colors, especially with Polarizer (watch for vignegetting) extremely saturated. I also use it for interesting close-up people portraits (see also CRC). It's cheap on Ebay, so go get it, even if you have a manual focus camera.
