Panasonic is one of the world's largest consumer electronics manufacturers. They make everything from microwave ovens to 3D HD television sets so making digital cameras wasn't a big stretch. Panasonic partnered with legendary German camera maker Leica for lens design. They make a full range of Lumix compact (point-and-shoot) cameras and they launched the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera revolution with their G-Series Micro Four Thirds cameras. Panasonic introduced the world's first pocket superzoom digital camera (the Lumix TZ-Series, now the ZS-Series in the US), which featured a 10x image-stabilized zoom lens. They also make the revered LX premium compact digital cameras.
