Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Studio Test Photos High resolution studio sample photos taken with the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV digital SLR. All photos were taken in RAW mode with the camera in Aperture Priority at f/8 using the Tamron AF28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di zoom lens. No adjustment or processing has been applied to the tests other than the addition of the logo, gray bar and text. Click on the thumbnails to see the photos at their original resolution.

    Thanks for the test. Much less color noise than I’ve seen in other samples.

    Pixel peeping aside, the real test comes from printing, which I’ll try with some of your samples. Would you consider posting the actual CR2 files?

    Thanks for the comment. I agree that printing is the real test. For real world testing I always compare 8.5×11 prints. In theory I could share the CR2 files. However, there was no adjustment made to these images other than adding the text and graybar. I converted them to 16-bit TIFFs with the supplied Canon Digital Photo Professional software. I’m not sure you’d get much more out of them with the CR2 files unless you started pushing them around. We’ve never posted RAW files for download before. But if there’s enough demand I’ll consider it.

    I print big. Very big. Frequently 60 x 90 for commercial clients. I tend to push the limits of noise and resolving power. I might have to rent a 1D Mark IV to get my hands some real files.
