Casio Exilim EX-FS10 & EX-FC100 Digital CamerasIt looks like some of the high-speed capture technology from Casio’s award-winning Exilim EX-F1 and Exilim EX-FH20 is starting to trickle down into Casio’s pocket digital cameras. Today at CES, Casio announced the Exilim EX-FS10 and EX-FC100. Thanks to Casio’s new Exilim Engine 4.0, both cameras have a high-speed 30 shot-per-second burst rate as well as a high-speed movie mode that can capture video at up to 1000 frames-per-second.

The 9.1-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-FS10 is a “card-sized” digital camera. It’s only about half an inch thick (0.64 inches) and at 3.8 inches long and 2.3 inches high, it’s just slightly larger than a business card. The EX-FS10 has a 3x internally zooming lens and a 2.5 LCD display.

The Exilim EX-FC100 is slightly larger than the FS10. It’s close to an inch thick and a tenth of an inch longer. It has a 5x optical zoom lens, a 9.1-megapixel image-stabilized CMOS sensor, and a 2.7-inch LCD display.

At 30 frames-per-second, the EX-FS10 and EX-FC100 capture 6-megapixel images. They actually start capturing before the shutter release button is fully depressed so even if you’re a little slow on the trigger, you won’t miss the shot. The 1000 FPS video capture makes super slow motion video possible. The impressive high-speed performance is made possible by the new EXILIM Engine 4.0, which has two separate processors – a standard CPU and a dedicated high-speed image processor. The new processing engine also enables improved auto focus tracking and the new Dynamic Photo function, which creates a composite moving image by combining multiple images on a still background. Both cameras also offer 1280×720 HD video with 6-megapixel video still capture.

Casio also announced the 12.1-megapixel Exilim EX-Z400, 10.1-megapixel Exilim EX-Z270, the 10.1-megapixel Exilim EX-S5, and the 12.1-megapixel Exilim EX-S12. The six new cameras should be available in March. The Exilim EX-FS10 will retail for $349.99, the EX-FC100 for $399, the EX-Z400 will be $299.99, the EX-Z270 will be $229.99, the EX-S12 will sell for $249.99, and the EX-S5 will have an MSRP of $179.99. All of the new cameras are offered in multiple colors. For more information and complete specs, please visit the Casio Web site.
