Today, Olympus introduced the SP-565 UZ, a smaller and lighter version of the SP-570 UZ. It has a 20x wide-angle telephoto zoom lens (26-520mm equivalent) with the ease of a point-and-shoot camera. The SP-565 UZ features 10-megapixels of resolution, enhanced Face Detection that can now track up to 16 faces, Dual Image Stabilization, Shadow Adjustment Technology, Perfect Shot Preview, Manual Controls, and 33 Shooting Modes Including Multi-Fireworks.

Hmmm. Interesting. That sure is an impressive lens length.
Looks good on paper, but what about tack sharp resolution of the 20x lens?? I wish that Olympus would use a larger sensor….their 1/2.33″ sensor is, by my calculation, only 73% the areas of the Canon G9 sensor. One thing that my Canon 5D has taught me is that sensor size is a HUGE component of image quality. Bigger is better!
