Color Management News Software

New X-Rite Color Management SolutionsToday, color measurement equipment manufacturer X-Rite, announced two new color management solutions to ensure photographers get predictable, controlled color. The X-Rite i1Display Pro and ColorMunki Display packages provide the hardware and software necessary for calibrating computer monitors, laptop displays and projectors as well as compensating for ambient light. If you’re not using some sort of monitor profiling system, chances are you aren’t really seeing your photos as you should. This might be a good time to invest in color management gear so you can be confident that what you see on your computer monitor is accurate.

The X-Rite i1Display Pro is the more sophisticated of the two new color management packages and “offers power users ‘Advanced’ user-defined settings and in-depth quality assurance tools for precise color control, as well as predefined ‘Basic’ settings to provide them with the perfect balance of speed and options to suit their individual workflow and changing needs.” Besides software, it comes with “the industry’s most advanced colorimeter.”

The more affordable, ColorMunki Display also includes software and a colorimeter and offers both an “Easy’ mode with a selection of one-click presets and an ‘Advanced’ mode, with easy to navigate wizard-driven options for more control.”

If you don’t own some sort of color management solution, do yourself a favor and invest in one. It really does make a huge difference in the final quality of your photos and ensures that others see your work as you see it. The X-Rite ColorMunki Display and i1Display Pro are both available now for $189 and $269, respectively. You can get them direct from X-Rite’s online store or from authorized dealers.
