New Fujifilm Superzooms – HS30EXR & HS25EXR

2012 PMA Fujifilm News Point and Shoot

New Fujifilm Superzooms – HS30EXR & HS25EXRThere are two new HS superzooms in the Fujifilm FinePix compact camera family. The new Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR and HS25EXR are built around a new 1\2-inch 16-megaixel EXR-CMOS sensor and 30x 24-720mm (equivalent) optical zoom lens and both cameras can capture full HD video. Both cameras are making their public debut at the annual CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, this week. The integrated 30x zoom lens is good for pretty much any situation and any subject and makes the HS30EXR and HS25EXR good options for photographers who want to step up from a simple point-and-shoot but don’t want the expense and hassle of a full digital SLR system. The cameras also have a full range of shooting modes and exposure controls for more advanced shooting techniques. The HS30EXR can even shoot in RAW mode. The large 1/2-inch sensor means better image quality than most compact cameras, although it won’t compete with the new mirrorless, interchangeable lens cameras or an actual digital SLR.

Some of the other features on the new Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR and HS25EXR cameras are a 3-inch 460k-resolution tilting LCD display, 8 frames-per-second high-speed burst at full resolution, manual zoom ring and 320 frames-per-second high-speed video for slow motion playback. For point-and-shoot photographers, both cameras have Fujifilm’s EXR Auto mode, which automatically evaluates a scene and chooses from 27 scene modes for the best settings to match the situation. More advanced photographers can take advantage of the Fujifilm’s unique EXR sensor design by manually choosing from three EXR modes – High Resolution Priority, High ISO & Low Noise Priority and Dynamic Range Priority.

The HS30EXR is the more advanced of the two new cameras. It has a a higher-resolution 920K resolution electronic viewfinder (EVF), faster auto focus and it can shoot in RAW mode. The HS30EXR also has a 600-shot (depending on conditions) rechargeable lithium ion battery and the HS25EXR uses standard AA batteries.

The new Fujifilm superzoom cameras will be available in March of 2012. The suggested price for the Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR is $499.95 and the HS25EXR will sell for $399.95.
