The coming out of P500 is a confirmation of a new trend. i think we have a new trend—they are the fujifilm HS10 and Leica mutants. I’m glad with this dev’t. More and more people will be on to this hobby – inexpensive, one piece, do-all camera for thrifty workers up to budding executives. I suspect the days of the entry level DSLRs will soon be over. Camera and lens manufacturers should frequently sponsor (anonymously) photo-competitions global-wide to encourage more hobbyists—next—> explosion of pictaking worldwide. Lens and Camera manufacturers should also subsidize electronic photo-printers and photo-frame manufacturers to make this products cheaper.

Yours is one of the sites that I try to avoid. Click on something that appears to be related to the product and you get an ad for a sony digital camera. Very deceptive. Ken

Thanks for the feedback, Ken. I admit I understand where you’re coming from. I can assure you we’re not trying to mislead you, though. The advertising links and the content links are a different color to try and differentiate. And those ads help pay the bills. Without the ads there would be no articles here.

Entry level DSLR will never go away. they offer advantages over the all-in-one camera like these. However, that said, this is indeed a nice camera to grab when your not out doing serious work. It is not a camera for the Pro, it is a camera for the enthusiast. I like that it shoot HD 1080p video with stereo sound. The zoom range would normally be considered excessive, but it is what makes this camera a good all-around snap-shooter.

My Niece just got this camera and she loves it, snapping pics all over the place… flash flash flash! perfect for the energentic teen! (and I have let her use my DSLRs) She has a good eye and without knowing the rules for photography, she breaks them all very well and very creatively… I think this camera with the capabilities it has will let her expand her creative abilities.
