Coming on the heels of the announcement of the new Pentax K-3 flagship DSLR, Ricoh just introduced a new zoom lens for Pentax DSLRs this week. The HD Pentax DA 20-40mm F2.8-4ED Limited DC WR lens is the first zoom in Pentax’s premium “Limited” lens line, and the first Limited lens with weather-sealed construction. It features Pentax’s High Definition (HD) coatings, 9 rounded diaphragm blades, ED glass elements and a built in DC focusing motor for quick, quiet auto focus.

The new 20-40mm Limited zoom lens is the 29th dedicated APS-C format K-mount lens made for Pentax DSLR cameras. The lens is constructed of hand-machined aluminum for great feel and durability, and the 30.5-61.5mm equivalent zoom range makes it a good standard zoom lens for all types of photography. The fast f/2.8-4 aperture and 9-bladed diaphragm offer excellent depth-of-field control and bokeh for portraits and other types of photography where you want to make your subject stand out against a smooth out-of-focus background. The 20-40mm Limited zoom lens also uses Pentax’s Quick-Shift Focus System, which makes it easy to switch between manual and auto focus.
The HD Pentax DA 20-40mm F2.8-4ED Limited DC WR zoom lens will be available in black and silver finishes and should be in stores this December. The suggested retail price is US $999.95.
