The Sony Alpha SLT- was the 2010 PhotographyREVIEW.com Camera of the Year. The transparent mirror design, impressive feature set and great image quality made it an easy choice for Camera of the Year and when I finally got one for review I was not let down. The Sony Alpha A55 is smaller and lighter than comparably spec’d competitor cameras and equals or outperforms them in most areas – especially speed and video. The 16.2-megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor delivers excellent image quality and full HD video and the camera is capable of a class-leading 10 frames-per-second burst rate in Speed Priority mode. The Sony Alpha A55 is one of the most innovative, best performing and best value digital SLRs available right now.

Nice guide John
Thanks, Greg. It got kind of out of hand. I didn’t intend the inro to be so long but I thought the Sony system needed more introduction than Nikon and Canon, since Sony is a relative newcomer to the camera business and some of their technology is probably mysterious to the average camera shopper.
