Camera-Friendly Gloves
If your favorite photographer lives where it gets cold, consider giving them some photographer-friendly gloves. It doesn’t even have to be that cold for them to be valuable. If you’re out in the elements long enough, your hands will get cold. I’ve got a few glove solutions for shooting in the fall and winter – a pair of fingerless wool gloves, some fleece mittens that flip back so you can get your fingers and thumbs out, and when it’s really cold I use glove liners that keep my fingers completely covered. I keep the fingerless gloves and mittens in my car so they’ll be there when I need them. The glove liners stay in the pocket of my ski jacket and I put them on when I’m shooting on the slopes or in the backcountry.

Fingerless gloves for photographers

You should be able to find fingerless gloves and mittens at your local outdoor store or online outdoor gear dealers. I got mine at REI. You might even be able to buy fingerless work gloves at your local hardware store. Chemical handwarmers are nice, too. They’re really cheap and standard equipment for cold weather outdoorsman and skiers. If it’s really cold I keep some chemical handwarmers in my pocket in case my fingers get dangerously cold.
