Samsung Galaxy Camera Review – The Camera of the Future

Samsung Galaxy Camera Review: Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Camera left me feeling pretty conflicted. It’s a great mobile device except you can’t make a phone call with it. And it’s a great camera – for a mobile device. But when you compare it to even inexpensive point-and-shoot cameras, it’s not so great – certainly not as good as I was hoping it would be. The image quality doesn’t measure up, it’s too big and the controls are a little awkward. On the other hand, compared to a Smart Phone, it’s got a way better lens, better controls, and better image quality. That’s not enough for me, though. For the moment, I’m going to have to stick with my pocket superzoom camera because I need the better image quality. If you like the quality of the photos in this review and you want something better than your Smart Phone for photos and videos, the Samsung Galaxy Camera might be perfect for you. It certainly is nice to have it all in one mobile device and you can’t beat the 4G connectivity for instant gratification (Instagramification).

Samsung Galaxy Camera - Self Portrait

Samsung deserves heaps of credit for making the Galaxy Camera. It’s truly in a class of its own right now and I believe it’s a preview of what point-and-shoot cameras will become. I expect to see a lot more “Smart Cameras” with full mobile connectivity in the future – hopefully on both the Android and Apple iOS operating systems. But Samsung is the first company to step up and do it right – even if the Galaxy Camera does fall a bit short in the image quality department.

This camera really is the way of the future. I still can’t believe that digital cameras were not released with full mobile connectivity years ago.
