I have the sigma 70-300mm DG OS lens with Canon mount for my Canon EOS 50D camera. I am suprised at how well it handles. The images are sharp. The speed of auto focus is quick and accurate. Although the auto focus motor is a bit noisier then Canon’s version, that does not bother me and it has no effect on the pictures. I was attracted to the lower price. Clear images through all the zoom range and when zoomed in all the way and manually focused, you can actually get a very close details of an object in the viewfinder. Everyone says this lens is for amateurs. If you understand how to use the equipment and use it properly you can get professional pictures. It is the skill, talent and knowlege of the photographer that has a huge impact on the results you get with this lens. True, it is not the fastest lens but my camera has excellent high speed ISO capabilities so that counters the problem. Also the Optical Stabalizer works perfectly with my camera. Excellent for low light situations. It makes shaky hand movement dramatically much more still.
I have a 17-85mm Canon IS lens already. I was looking to extend my range without breaking my bank account. This fits my budget and purposes perfectly.
