Sony Alpha SLT-A65

Photographers looking for the most resolution and performance for less than $1000 – the A65 is your camera. The A65 is Sony’s 2011 update of last year’s award-winning A55 translucent mirror camera. It has a new APS-C CMOS sensor that increases the resolution to a crazy, class-leading 24 megapixels. Like the A55, the SLT-A65 uses a transparent mirror for increased speed and to allow superior phase detection auto focus in video mode. It has an electronic viewfinder (EVF) instead of an optical viewfinder like traditional DSLRs. That allows it to show all camera data, including the histogram in the viewfinder. It also makes it possible to use the viewfinder for shooting video, something you can’t do with a regular digital SLR. Besides the increased resolution, the A65 also pushes sensitivity to ISO 16,000 and the viewfinder has been upgraded to a new 2.3-million-dot OLED EVF.

Thanks, Greg. It got kind of out of hand. I didn’t intend the inro to be so long but I thought the Sony system needed more introduction than Nikon and Canon, since Sony is a relative newcomer to the camera business and some of their technology is probably mysterious to the average camera shopper.
