Looks like the waterproof digital camera segment is really starting to get hot. With Fujifilm in the game, that makes five manufacturers that are now making waterproof digital cameras – Olympus, Pentax, Ricoh, Panasonic, and Fujifilm. I’ve used the Olympus, Pentax, and the yet-to-be-released Panasonic. I love the Olympus Stylus SW cameras (now called “Tough”) for their shockproof build. But I’m really excited about the new Panasonic Lumix TS1 because it’s waterproof, shockproof and it has optical image stabilization. I think that would be my choice for my next waterpoof pocket digicam.

Maybe this will be your next review, Patia? I don’t know how soon we can get one. But I’d like to get you one. Are you willing to go for a swim for a review? :-)

  • Patia says:

Absolutely, although it’ll have to be the pool at my gym. I’m not hitting the river until at least June!

I had my camera break with me only using approx 5 months. I read the paperwork in the box and called the 800 to be informed it has to be mailed in. I went online printed the form and mailed the camera back to FUJI with insurance and delivery confirmation. They sent me an automated email they received the camera 4 days after the delivery was made. Then I went to check status to have it show me owing $55 before they will fix it. (under warranty again) Then I called the number left a message for a return call to get a message that states for immediate results email me at such and such address so I emailed also. This was 12 days ago and still no response to the voicemail or the email.

I emailed of my disgust to then get a form in the mail stating that the battery door was broken and not covered and the camera had water damage. Well funny how the battery at the house doesn’t have water damage that was inside the camera. (and I took pictures the day I mailed it of the paperwork I was sending) Finally a live person confirmed after looking at the camera they didn’t understand why that was put on my form and that multiple people look at the camera and that is why they have different results on the paperwork/status updates. WHAT A LOAD of Crap. (sorry) They are still telling us they will not fix the camera. Looked online to find numerous others having the same problem with the poorly designed camera door. The manager said if this was the case he would have numerous cameras returned and he would not fix without at least $22.00 and shipping so over $30 for my new camera that I haven’t had for a year that is CRAP.

Now they are telling me they won’t even send my camera back unless I pay for the shipping providing them with a credit card. After researching others have done this to be charged a lot more than shipping. They have the worst customer service, they don’t honor their warranties and if they are going to exclude things from their warranty they need to list that on their warranty sheet. I could have taken this back to the store and I still have time to do a credit card dispute but it isn’t fair to the store if I can’t return it for them to lose on the sale when they don’t even have the product to show for the dispute! This is horrible and I am really upset that I have a camera I didn’t even hardly get to use.

This was my first and LAST purchase from FUJI !!

I have owned 3 Canons and they both work great still one being 13 years old and the only reason for purchase on this FUJI camera was waterproof. I will never stray from Canon and Nikon again. I don’t know what their customer service is like because their products don’t fail! FUJI has lost me and I will make sure others don’t have to go through what I do by letting them know how horrible this company is.

Thanks for listening and hope this will save someone else from losing money on junk!

    Michelle
